Thanks Ken/Bruce,
It feels great that it's more then just a really big printer :D
I already got a million projects waiting that do not include corny sentences, but first the dust foot !

Mike, do I get a number if I slap a logo on the bare metal ? Or does it need to be painted ?

Gerald D Fri 10 October 2014 14:14

The old rules were:
- painted
- logo
- proof of cutting, writing or drawing pictures

Fox Fri 10 October 2014 16:44

Thanks gerald,

Will honor that/you. Means no number anytime soon, but that's ok.

MetalHead Fri 10 October 2014 17:40

Hey I painted a table before with a 4 inch roller.

pblackburn Fri 10 October 2014 20:29

Gerald and Mike,
I think if the build is out of stainless there should be an exception. That would be a nice looking machine. And expensive.

Fox Sat 11 October 2014 07:36

Stainless? ... come on.. titanium..!
I built mine out of unobtainium :)

Tom Ayres Sat 11 October 2014 07:40

Stop it you're killing me ;)

pblackburn Sat 11 October 2014 09:39

Titanium, ahhhh, too lightweight, machine would look like a washing machine out of balance scooting across the floor when rapids are made. Being serious, I always liked stainless brushed and it would be a shame to have to paint it for a serial number.

Fox Sat 11 October 2014 09:50

Still, think about all those pretty multicoloured welds in titanium, that will make it look fast ... we'll just fill it with concrete and be done with that nasty light weight characteristic ;)

Talk is cheap. Built it. You sound like you have too much time on your hands already, you will enjoy brushing the frame so the grain will match :D

servant74 Sat 11 October 2014 10:01

Concrete base ;-) , titanium is still to light for the Y/Z axis stuff. Some weight on the Y axis gantry and Z axis trolly is still needed to be stable under load.

With two young kids, sometimes time is all I have and it is usually great. :)

Fox Sat 11 October 2014 15:52

I have one young one... And he's eating all my spare time, but without any regret. The best things in life are not things.

Tom Ayres Sun 12 October 2014 06:36

Amen!
