The Guy with the Train in his Basement

Alan_c Fri 11 January 2013 01:19

:D Thats insane but at the same time very cool!

Robert M Fri 11 January 2013 05:46

mmmm...speachless & insane.....but Canadian :D

smreish Sat 12 January 2013 13:12

...could have used a MM to make all of that (well most of it anyway)
Great link - thanks Gerald

Leko Sat 19 January 2013 15:59

Genius!!!

servant74 Sat 19 January 2013 16:06

We all have our own quirks. ... Trains are fun, but this is 'overboard' even for me.

smreish Sun 20 January 2013 10:27

Leko,
That is something I would do! I wish I had a video of the most recent Pirate Ship I had in my little boy's room. Great - but not on that scale!

Travel well.

For all of you that have babies in your family i thought this was pretty nice. Would be a lot better than the plastic crap that is out there.

To give you an idea on prices

Looks like an opportunity for a quick CNC file to turn these out in mass. :)

Still, I do like those better than many of the commercial models.

Here are some interesting articles and reference material for those starting on the journey...http://americanwoodworker.com/blogs/...n/default.aspx

When you have completed your mechmate and have time on your hands, try this:

Got to admit.....this is great & cool :D

darren salyer Fri 17 May 2013 22:46

Was pretty cool.
Looked like there were a few bugs with the spray timing, but still neat.

Cool video, Russell. I'd love to do similar type work.

sailfl Sun 26 May 2013 03:34

Russell,

Thanks for the video. I am going to modify a house I own and there has to be some trust built, the straight forward kind and I now am going to talk to the Architect and framer and see about cutting it out myself instead of having a trust company build the trust.

If I do this I will post pictures.

Any prediction.....this may be the next thing many will try making :D
I most likely will ;)

Regnar Wed 30 April 2014 05:39

If I had the Vector File I would have already had one sitting under me. :) Now time to go get a few screen shots and start measuring. LOL

silverdog Wed 30 April 2014 05:47

Well if you are lazy to do your vector .... try this ... it seems a good idea :-)

racedirector Wed 30 April 2014 07:06

Or checkout Opendesk where they say that chair is coming soon. I know I'll be cutting one when it appears :)

Regnar Wed 30 April 2014 12:57

And now this wall to go with the Chair.

Long time no post here, so lets correct that :)

I found this nice video with a great idea on how to machine two sided pieces without fixtures, it does waste a bit more material, but I think the idea is great:
