Kobus,
Go into the windows section where you can size the fonts etc and just increase the size of your window borders to something bigger than you would normally use. This would work for the windows, but you still might not see the start button entirely. This might work for you.

wintersgillg Fri 23 December 2011 11:08

Kobus

Sometimes you can resize the display using buttons on the lcd itself that lets you make changes to the pictures position.

Kobus_Joubert Fri 23 December 2011 11:25

Thank's Heath and Graham. I tried all the available settings on the Control Panel 'Display' and the screen buttons can move it up / down and left /right, but not shrink it.
Anybody else that know of some software that might be able to do this ?

Don't worry, I got it a bit smaller now.....would like something inbetween, but for now OK.

danilom Fri 23 December 2011 13:58

Nvidia has those options to make it smaller or bigger in the control panel but for a TV output

Regnar Fri 23 December 2011 20:31

Kobus, I dont think this is a setting that is with the PC to change the screen size but actually on the screen itself.

On mine you set the computer up with the recommended screen resolution.
On the screen itself you can stretch or shrink along the x and y axis to fit the frame for the screen. I just dont know if you will have enough adjustment to fit your area. 20mm is a big screen size difference to overcome.

Kobus_Joubert Fri 23 December 2011 21:32

I know on the old CRT screens I could do it, but these new plat panel jobbies don't seem to come to the party.

wintersgillg Sat 24 December 2011 06:34

Make and model?

Kobus_Joubert Sat 24 December 2011 10:33

Mine is a BenQ 15.6 inch LED screen www.benQ.com

wintersgillg Sat 24 December 2011 13:02

Kobus

Assuming it is the G610HD

then this link may help

ftp://211.78.86.204/lcdmonitor/manua...g610hda_en.pdf

I found the Australian site better than the UK one

Kobus_Joubert Sat 24 December 2011 22:06

Thank's Graham, but those manuals are the same as the ones I got on the CD with the monitor.
Thanks for the effort, but I am now thinking to change the position of the screen and then I will not need to make the screen display smaller.

Merry Christmas to everybody, may your ideas produce a lot of chips and dust and may your customers fill your pockets in 2012.

Kobus, I was thinking about this last night but have your tried playing around with Screen Editor? I know you can make custom screen sets for Mach3. You would just need to find out the size of the pixel area you need to cover. I remember seeing instructions on how to find this out in Paint program but cant seem to find them right now. You wouldnt be able to use full screen but the Window should pop up in the same position and size each time you open it.

Picture of the selectable screen size.

I know this is not MechMate related, but if it was not for this wonderful forum where I managed to learn a lot, I would not have gone down this road to buy an old Wadkin CNC router and re-furbish it with modern technology.
The control panel is nearly done. Need some painting and then onto the machine......and I still have a truck load of wire and contactors etc left over..:D

Kobus,
You might be able to use that encoder wheel from the old control panel with the proper input module for jogging!....or something.

Merry Christmas to you and all my SA friends!

Kobus_Joubert Mon 26 December 2011 12:34

Thank's Sean, but that sounds like work....ha ha. I think this little wirless keyboard will be enough to drive the beast.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas as well.....mine was not too bad....on standby for 10 day's, but touch wood ..no callout so far. Gave me time to wire up this panel.

Trying to keep as much of the old parts in one piece... maybe somebody want to buy it ???

jask Mon 26 December 2011 23:51

That hard drive mount looks a little dodgy, with a longer set of cables you could move it away from the heat and "noise" of the power supply. It is great to see this Wadkin getting a new life:) more pictures please.

javeria Tue 27 December 2011 01:16

Hi Kobus, show us some pictures of your wadkin, is the ball screw in good condition???

John I agree, the H/D need work, but on a Christmas holiday it is hard to get what you want, so to get going you improvise.

Irfan, this is the machine.... from what I could tell he slides needs a little cleaning, but the ballscrews do move ok.

MetalHead Tue 27 December 2011 08:12

So are you going to gut this thing and build up the MechMate controls inside?

Kobus_Joubert Tue 27 December 2011 10:43

More than half-way there. I think if I sell all the copper that is inside and not needed, I will get about 1/3 of what I paid for the complete machine.;)

Nice AQUA Screen for Mach3 with WADKIN LOGO :D

Attachment 12808

Regnar Tue 27 December 2011 13:27

Were you able to resize the window to fit within the screen?

Kobus_Joubert Tue 27 December 2011 22:29

I changed the screen from INSIDE to OUTSIDE of the box and can now use the FULL screen size. In Mach3 under General Config, you can also make the screen bigger to fill the wide screen.

javeria Wed 28 December 2011 06:44

Ah Kobus - this is a small one - I have seen one Wadkin which has a 4x8 bed, and its extreme to see the whole 4x8 bed move in X and Y -

hope to see this working soon - our best to you!

Kobus_Joubert Wed 28 December 2011 06:54

Working bed is about 900 mm x 1300 mm

Finally the control panel is wired. I could not find a dealer to purchase a piece of Perspex or some other material to make the front panels during this holiday season. So for the interim it is painted 6mm plywood with 'stickers' made from plain white paper printed on the home computer and sealed with my wifes clear nail varnish.:o

Excellent work. We would have never known.:)

PEU Wed 04 January 2012 20:09

make a remote using that manual pulse generator!! its very easy to hook it up to mach3 using a couple of pins of your BB and taking 5V from USB or you can use a second parallel port.

Kobus_Joubert Wed 04 January 2012 22:01

Too much work and extras. Once my wirless trackball keyboard arrives it is done...no extras.

Decided that my 'homemade' stickers will not do on the Wadkin.
Bought some ROWMARK rotary engravable plastic .. http://www.rowmark.com/rotary/Rotary..._Materials.asp

But to engrave on this 1.5mm thick plastic I needed FLAT table and a vacuum table.

So I made a 650mm x 650mm vacuum box.
Attachment 12860
To get it to stay a flat as possible I made inside baffels.

Then I re-surfaced my table ... Yes Heath... I do it from time to time....Was it Heath ???
And the new box with my new 52mm table top trim bit...WOW does this thing make a mess with all the MDF dust.

Attachment 12861

Here is the vacuum box with 4 ZONES... Pierre doing the quality inspection.

Wadkin control panel eventually finished.

javeria Sun 08 January 2012 12:47

Ah Kobus - is there no charge pump on your BoB -you still worry about the drives and PC getting power at the same time :D

and the surfacer router bit, where did you source it from??

domino11 Sun 08 January 2012 18:29

Hey Kobus,
Yes it was I that taunted you about that spoilboard. :) Nice to see your bi-decade surfacing. :)

Kobus_Joubert Sun 08 January 2012 22:02

Ha ha, just need Hennie to come on his broom to clean up :D

Irfan, I bought it from Pro-Tech. My local supplier have them for R 420.00 incl.
Rather safe than sorry...get PC going then only power up drives for me.

Surfcnc Sun 08 January 2012 23:27

Hi Kobus

We both experimented with vacuum today it seems.
I see your vacuum table is shop vacuum powered.
Most people have one of those around, even if it might be on "temporary loan" from the main residence :)

If that MDF dust is bothering you as a consolation I breathed through an offcut of it today to actually check just how porous it was (along with plywood and particle board).
Quite porous as it turns out and the technique I used gave very precise feedback on just how different they were.

Keep up the good work - I really enjoy all your projects.

That is a good looking portable vacuum hold-down box. & a fierce looking QC inspector. :D

hennie Mon 09 January 2012 04:59

No Kobus you made the mess you clean it up! I have my fair share of cleaning up,Jack is only starting on Thursday.Heath this is going to be a good year there is proof that Kobus resurfaced his table.:)

javeria Fri 13 January 2012 07:43

:D Kobus - you just post a picture and tell its moving - not fair!

danilom Fri 13 January 2012 08:11

haven't you heard?
it's moving pictures :D but manual... you have to move left-right to see it

I would also like to see a video of it doing some moves or better... routing
are those some dust covers around the ballscrew?
