Ok boys, you got me on that one...I`m happy you got your laughs...;)
But indeed they had also colourchanging Led Strips, combined with a pink table and some trannys....(from the other post)....but then who is doing the work.:) Besides I managed to get my motors mounted. Some on the Gantry and one on the Z. Attachment 7441 Attachment 7442 Attachment 7443 Led Strips still to come....:D Greetings Claus |
Thanks for understanding Claus. We are just one big happy family sharing a good time with each other..now where is the strippers ?....I mean strips...:D

Hi Bryan,
here is the file you`re looking for. The mounting holes are now adapted for fitting on the Gauge Plate. You see that I added some more thickness where the tapped holes are to add some strenght. So I guess to the original overall length you just add 8 mm. Attachment 7469 Attachment 7470 Hope it is of use. Greetings Claus |
Claus,
I recon we are using the same spindle. Here is my observation, the shiny part looks like a cladding and the actual body is the black painted top & bottom end which is a tat smaller then dia80mm. I would prefer to have my brackets holding the body rather then the cladding. Hope you agree. |

Hi Ken,
Do you mean I`m not allowed to use the clamp on the shiny part? I thought by fixing it this way I can still move it up and down as it would be needed for adjustment. Please confirm if I have understood right. Thanks Claus |
Interesting question. On my spindle, the top and bottom black parts seem to be plastic caps over the ends of a shiny solid metal body, and my clamps are on the shiny part.
|
I prefer to clamp on something that is solid.
Let me write to the supplier & see what they say about this. |
In this post you can see the typical way in which the router manufacturing companies mount onto their own routers.
|
Hi guys
Gerald In this case we have the mounting dilema with the chinese spindle. Ken, I found this link where you see a fortune cookie already mounted. I hope it`s not an example of a wrongly mounted one. Greetings Claus |
Hi, I'm inclined toward clamping on the spindle body, its easier to implement & safest to use. Mounting on the ends isn't the best place as there is always the chance of bending the spindle's axis, no matter how slime the chance is... I sincerely hope the shiny bit is the the body & not a cladding...
|
Hi,
The supplier came back with the all clear sign. Its perfectly ok to clamp on the shiny part. Hope this help. Regards Ken |

Hey Ken,
thanks for the clear sign. I happy that way because anyway the shiny part of the spindle suits better with the shiny part of the holder !:) Some nice graphics...which suit a nice MM! Attachment 7526 Attachment 7527 Greetings Claus |

By the way ... still working hard.
Attachment 7559Attachment 7560 Attachment 7561Attachment 7562 I get more and even more respect for your work Gerald as I assemble part by part and realize how much work and knowledge it takes to invent such a machine. I`m just copying:o. Thank you Greetings to all. Claus |
You make me a little nervous; I am going away a little over the Xmas period and that is when you will want your serial number ;)
Already your motors have turned, your control box is complete and you just need a few days for the cables and push-button boxes before we will see some dust. |
Gerald
You can come in Greece for Xmas. I'm officially inviting you to my home :p My wife cooks fantastic and ehm ehm i could use some help with my MM construction :D:D:D |

Some more work done so far.
I just wanted to show you the option for the Control Box attached to the frame. You can see some hinges where the control box is just hooked in. If there is some repair to do you can just lift it off and work inside ( not to break your back). Attachment 7576Attachment 7577 And this is the latest pic. Claus
That's a very nice progress you've done. I wish you have your MM up and running before 2010 ;) BTW why you used such a long E-chain ? I think you could have used half of it. |

Claus,
Great progress! Love the light! Do you have any plan to have some sort of guard for the LEDs? Where will you place your monitor? |
Hi Ken,
You can see the mounted lights in post 74.They`re really flat. Why do you think they need a guard? Is it for protecting reason? The Monitor and the PC will sty somewher besides the table near the 0,0,0. Greetings |
Light seems quiet bright, nice thing actually when I think of zeroing Z.
|
Hi Claus,
I'm more concern of both dust and protection as well. Don't wnat to have a black-out in the middle of a strip show :) |
A small step for mankind but a big one for MM`ers. Another one is alive!

This is the very first Virgin Cut. Attachment 7741 Second one.... Attachment 7742 Please also visit here and here for my first CUTS uncensored. :):):D:D:D:D:):D Itīs a great pleasure to share this moment with you guys and again to thank you for your support during my build. This experience was more than a build, it was learning a lot from a new domain and of course making a dream come true to have such a machine called my own. Gerald, thank you for making this possible, but more the joy, happiness and satisfaction you bring to everyone. Yesterday I felt like Dexterīs Lab, Jeckel and Hyde and Transformers together when I saw Beast moving.....Great feeling... ....itīs alive.:D |
Congratulation Claus,

Claus, I remember those feelings .......... come to think of it ....... they haven't gone away yet, I get them every time I run a file.;) Congratulations.
|
Congratulation Claus, I know what it feels like :) because It was when my small engraver first made a little dust. I can image what it is like when you see such big thing moving on your command.
The fun just begins, you will have such feeling every day you will do your first masterpiece (every time). |

Update Builder's Log
Claus,
Congratulations on your MechMate and Serial #43. The Updated Builder's Log is here. Please provide some additional information for the Builder's Log. I would like to know the X and Y dimensions of your MechMate...that would be the largest board you can cut. Also, please review your entry and let me know any changes you would like. |
