Plywood electric cars plans (to feed the beast).
Hello Gerald, Hello friends,
For those who would like to have very greats plans to cut plywood parts with the Mechmate (and make clever electric cars!).:eek::eek: Have a look to http://buggies.builtforfun.co.uk/index.php The same DIY spirit than the Mechmate web site but for plywood electric vehicules : a gold mine of knowledge (mechanical + electrical) !! Have a look, Regards, Pierre. PS : Work on an electric personnal plywood car design for the moment ... |
Pierre,
Thanks for sharing the info. It is always fun to see what people are building. Please share you progress on your own vehicle. |
Found this powerpoint file, many MechMate-able pieces in it:

Im still waiting for my registration confirmation on this site, but if it delivers what it promises, it would a great thing for 3D work: http://3dsee.net/Main.aspx
In a nutshell, from a sequence of photos, they can create a 3D CAD model. Pablo |
Pablo, the file you posted in #45 has expired. If you could post a few images here directly, they wouldn't expire. But do size them to an appropriate size for web posting. I am sure Gerald would appreciate it!

About 15 years ago I made some platters (from plywood) for cocktail parties, as in the last pic. Wish I had a MM then!
|
Jack,
Link in post #45 still works ok for me. :) |
The link still works but when you click the download link to download the file in post # 45 I get the follow error
THE FILE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LINK HAS EXPIRED.. YouSendIt will only keep a file for 7 days or 100 download which ever comes first. So the only way to get it if Pablo resubmits the file again to YouSendIt and repost the new link. Regards Paul |
Oops sorry about that, :o

Here you go. If it takes a while to see why this inspires look at the framing picture, anybody care to guess if it was a saw or a cnc router that made all those plywood panels?

I just came across a other nice one :
http://www.stevengarrison.com/index.html The gear section is quite nice, might have some nice ideas for people with a lathe, but the website even states you can make the gears with a table saw and or router... Ries |
I just found somthing that looks very nice www.debbie-intarsia.com

That saw is something that I have thought about as well. I just keep coming back to using a spiral bit to make the cuts...
|
Most of the big iron machines offer the option of a second spidle with a saw blade attached (usually fixed in one axis - the longest one). It is also possible to add an Aggerate Head to the main spindle that can take a saw blade, rotating head for a router cutter etc but is does require a very substantial Spindle with auto tool change and a 4th axis in the spindle to move the aggregate to the required orientation. The saw blade can still only do straight cuts (albeit at any angle). Both machines I used to work on had the option fitted with a fixed axis blade - never used them, could do everything I wanted with just the spindle head. The drill heads on the other hand were used constantly and that would be a useful addition .

Free patterns, not all of them are routeable, but who can argue with free? :D

I like the wall pieces, easily mechmateable (this should be a word :) ) |
Im sure that this can be done on a MM with a little bit of planning, nevertheless, great woodworking and more important: fun!
