This is just to let people out there what a laser can do.

It was cut from .25 inch thick Lyptus Wood. It will be going on a grandfather clock I'm making. After I complete my MM.

stefanv Fri 15 February 2008 16:54

How strong is this laser?

jbmclain Sat 16 February 2008 02:52

watts

Stefan, They had three lasers machines there. The Mac Daddy I think was 2000w. and could cut 7/8" inch steel. He also said that they had a 6 digit power bill one month.

stefanv Sat 16 February 2008 06:09

Looks like I'll stick to router bits for a while,... :)
Stefan

Gerald D Sat 16 February 2008 07:26

Joe, do you plan to remove the black where the laser burnt its way through?

lunaj76 Sat 16 February 2008 11:35

Joe,

I would like to be included for a mamba set and bearings.

Joe,

I'm planning to get the mamba set with Sean in FL. However the deal on the bearings is good. We need 10 right? If you don't mind sending me just those, I'll pm you my info. Do you happen to have a paypal account for easy transfer?

Look what I got today!!!!:D

Everything looks as they should and goes together like it should!!

The only bad thing is Myozman (Mike) called the first set.:(

myozman Tue 19 February 2008 18:15

Now to get going.:)

jbmclain Tue 19 February 2008 21:03

OK I am going to pull the trigger and get a large batch on Thursday afternoon!!

As of now I have orders in for the following people:

Greg A
Revved Up
Mark Shlaes
Sailfl
Kevin L
Kevin
Kwang 90020
Mattbyrne
Ekdenton
Lunaj76
Cardin1
303mm
ME:)

If I forgot someone, Please let me know. I don't want to leave anyone out and I'm going to keep mine this time. I don't mind ordering parts in the future but in 5 or more quantities. The price might change too due to rise of steel and labor.

I am taking payment by Paypal (its fast and free) for the parts at this time. This way I don't get stuck with extra sets and finance charges.
At the time of shipping I will send you a email telling you how much shipping is to your location. This will a 60LBS box. UPS Shipping & Insurance to Myozman was $40.00. Shipping to a business will be a little cheaper than a residence.
So, all that been said, email your: Name, Shipping Address, If you ordering bearings (qty) and I will tell you the email to send the money to on paypal.
This way I won't get racked.:D

Thanks
Joe Mclain

Just as a note....
I am still going to be running a batch of parts in Florida, but it will be a number of weeks. I am truly in the weeds with work and won't be able to dedicate the time to "go over and sit at the laser" for a while. Stefan and Nils, if your in a hurry, I would jump on Alabama pricing.
Sean

sailfl Wed 20 February 2008 07:37

Sean

Thanks for the update. I can wait so I am passing on the Alabama order. I don't see me starting for a couple more months so I have time.

stefanv Wed 20 February 2008 08:49

I'll for the FL batch,...
Stefan

myozman Thu 21 February 2008 14:52

Joe,

Got them today. Awesome! They look good. They dry fit good, really nice bend job.
Time to get on the stick and get ordering.

Let me know when everything goes through.

Mike

parts

I talked to the laser people on Wednesday and they were finishing up with cutting them.
He told me that he would ask them to put a hurry up on the bending. This was the longest part in the process, on the first run of parts.
I know that everyone is eager to get their parts as much as I am to get mine, so be patient and I'll keep bugging them.

Thanks
Joe

revved_up Fri 07 March 2008 17:17

I am plenty patient and would rather wait than have them rushed and not be accurate.

Thanks for making this happen Joe.
:D

Joe,
Is that a complete Mamba laser cut parts list and bearings? If it is, how much?

I wouldn't mind stocking up for the next build. :)

jbmclain Fri 14 March 2008 14:54

Greg J Tue 18 March 2008 12:36

Joe,

Don't count me in on this order. This project is taking allot longer than I wanted and by the time I'm ready for number 2, the design will have changed.

Thanks for you help.
Greg

revved_up Tue 18 March 2008 17:32

Parts came today THANKYOU JOE!! still haven't had the chance to open them up I have to finish cleaning off the workbenches that will hold the kitchen table project. then I will start and post pictures as well.

Again thanks!

ekdenton Thu 20 March 2008 16:27

Got my parts yesterday and put the car together to see how it fit. Very nice fit, no gaps anywhere. The spider had stress cracks on the outside of the bends but not bad, I will fill the cracks with my mig and sand flat with a flapdisk. The spider did have the hole locations etched also, that was nice. I think they did a great job cutting and bending:D

Marc Shlaes Thu 20 March 2008 16:50

Got mine too Joe. Very cool. Thanks so much for getting this organized!

kwang90020 Thu 20 March 2008 22:36

I received mine yesterday. It fits good. Joe, Great job. Thanks.

myozman Fri 21 March 2008 20:49

Joe,

Got the Direct drive motor mounts.
Send me the bill..

Thanks, Again,

MIKE

For those wondering how good of a job Joe's suppliers did...

I just unpacked my parts and snapped them together and fired up my MM. No welding required.

Just kidding of course but they are just about that good!

Well done Joe! Thanks again
