One of the coils is yellow/yellow, the other coil is purple/purple (check with multimeter)

If you parallel 2 coils (similar rated voltage), you will either get nothing, or the right voltage. You won't get smoke.

(I have just confirmed this with Jan of Toroidal Technologies, who tells me that is not his transformer, but he wouldn't hesitate to try one way then the other)
