Sean, I want one for my office, back(mounting) plate 300mm tall, material 3mm MDF. Please quote.

KenC Fri 16 July 2010 01:03

A beauty!

CAM Craft Fri 16 July 2010 02:37

Hi Fabrice, Since i have an order (Dad) pls email a invoice for the dxf file. Did you create your own 3d model of the head and then sliced it afterwards? or did you trace the profiles?

fabrun Fri 16 July 2010 03:07

i found the 3d models (made with 3dsmax) and then i slice afterwards

fabrun Fri 16 July 2010 03:16

sean, you can't receive pm here, check your email at camcraft

Gerald, you better get a security guard to keep watch on that Rhino. They killed the last Rhino in the Krugersdorp Game Reserve 2 days ago...just for its horn.

Jan de Ruyter Fri 16 July 2010 11:35

Might use this one as a decoy. 10 years in jail for posession of rhino horn.

fabrun Fri 16 July 2010 11:46

no animals had been hurt during this modeling operation:D
i promise

Gerald D Fri 16 July 2010 13:36

My dream is to come up with fake rhino horn that fools most of the Asians most of the time. That should generate some income while saving some rhino. :D

Kobus_Joubert Fri 16 July 2010 23:21

If you scratch long enough in those dustbins you might just cook up something.:)

Fabrice, models look great, one suggestion, using edges of other shape than rounded or plain 90degrees adds a lot of machining time, they look great on the screen but take a long time to machine.
Just a comment, Im not saying its impossible to cut what you designed.

fabrun Mon 26 July 2010 12:34

i understand pablo
round edge is for more comfort

Travish Mon 26 July 2010 14:01

Fabrice,

What software are you using to slice a 3d model up into the slotted pcs like this?

Thanks,
Travis

fabrun Mon 26 July 2010 21:40

hi travis
solidworks

Pablo,

I'm struggling with the same issue. Trying to design around the issue, but still in the design stage as of today. When I finish designing the base for a burl table I'm currently working on, I'll let you know. The creative process is a slow one for myself, but I never said I was fast. :o

Nice!

Suggestion, make the seat area more anatomic, instead of a flat surface you can use 2 or three parts to make it more comfortable.

lunaj76 Wed 11 August 2010 19:56

I really like it, my wife wants one for our wedding anniversary.

You can make the corner cuts much less:

fabrun Wed 11 August 2010 22:48

thanks gerald for this good advice

Kobus_Joubert Wed 11 August 2010 23:35

I have cut some of your designs, and because I have to use a 6mm or sometimes a 9mm bit to give me length to cut through 19mm ply, that corner comes out smaller by itself.

today let's add a mirror frame
a flat version and a decorated version

PEU Thu 12 August 2010 03:55

Fabrice, you need your MM built ASAP, with your design talent it will pay for itself in no time!

Once Again, very nice!!!
