Thanks Ken and Ries for your advice, i will try next monday those G codes, there are so much to learn in this wonderful world. The more we read , the more we know we have to learn. We need some help in implementing a Z touch plate? we have been reading about Pyvcp, do you know some place to read more about it?:o:confused::D

melissa Sun 30 January 2011 09:34

rceja,

great job getting your mechmate cutting so quickly! However, I'm scared by your clamping in the cutting video.

Please use a clamp to hold the workpiece, not your hands. We've been through it on other discussions here, it's dangerous to put your hands near a machine-controlled router.

The mechmate will not stop when you say "ouch!"

rceja Sun 30 January 2011 10:00

ouch!!!!!

you are absolutely right!!!, the hand in the video is my son's hand, while taking the video i told him about taking his hands out of that place because the danger implied. He understood and promisse me not to put anymore his hands near the spindle. It is better a broken bit than a bledding finger :):):):D:D:D, thanks!!!!

This is our control box,we will make a small steel car to support it and put the box at a convenient level to troubleshoot.

riesvantwisk Mon 31 January 2011 19:25

rceja,

are you planning to make any e-stops? If not, I can still strongly suggest to make them on all 3 sides of the machine. You don't use them often but when you do... it's quite handy :)

Ries

rceja Mon 31 January 2011 20:05

E stops!!

Yes, we plan to implement E-stops and limits/home via proximity sensor, in fact, tomorrow we will begin working on that. You are right in your comments, they should be there when we need them, even once in a year, or never!!!!:D

Thank you Ries!!!!!!

Updated Builder's Log

Rceja,

Congratulations, neighbor, to you and your son on completing your MechMate and earning Serial #76.

Here is the Updated Builder's Log.

I took a guess at your start date since you already had an assembled table on your first post. Please provide the correct start date if very different for October 15, 2010. We do not count the studying and planning time before starting actual construction.

Please provide the cutting dimensions of your MechMate for the Builder's Log.

Also, please review the Builder's Log entry and let me know any changes you want to make to your entry.

rceja Tue 01 February 2011 08:24

Thank you John, we are very pleased and proud with our MM and #76 :):D, now is the time to dig into the software and begin to learn how to be productive making wood stuff. In fact our first steel invoice is dated 03/Nov/2010, that is the exact date we began to cut steel, so is our begening construction date.
Our table cutting dimensions are X=244 cm Y=122 cm.
We saw the builder's log and think that is OK!!!!, excep for the begining date.

Greetings from Guadalajara!!!!

Kobus_Joubert Tue 01 February 2011 08:43

In the picture with the nice lady at the car, I see that your house windows looks very similar like ours in South Africa.....keeping the midnight shoppers OUT...;)

rceja Tue 01 February 2011 09:45

The girl in the picture is my daughter, she is 15 and in high school right now!!!!, We would like to know your country!!!!!, and maybe take a look to your MM :D:D

Kobus_Joubert Tue 01 February 2011 09:48

In South Africa, we have burglar bars in front of all windows..We stay INSIDE our 'jail' and the thieves are roaming the streets. :D

rceja Tue 01 February 2011 10:26

Same thing is happening all around the world, don't you think so????

KenC Tue 01 February 2011 22:49

Same here :(

Builder's Log Update

Thanks for the updates, Rceja.

Here is the Updated Builder's Log.

We are proud of your MechMate too. And such a quick build, only 3 months, less than half the AVERAGE. Good luck as you learn to use your MechMate and keep us posted with pictures (please) of your projects.

PEU Wed 02 February 2011 16:24

Felicitaciones!!

Same here :(

riesvantwisk Wed 02 February 2011 16:37

Houses look somewhat the same here aswell, you don't have bars if you have a wall of 3 meters though!! That was quite a change when I moved from holland where the biggest wall around a garden is something you can jump over.

isladelobos Fri 04 February 2011 15:10

Felicidades !! por esa máquina.

Ahora a hacer mucho polvo

Saludos.

rceja Fri 04 February 2011 19:14

After a while learning about the cam software, finally we did our firs alu cut, we cut or reductor alu plates. It feel fine when you see the MM cutting alu like butter (0.5 mm per pass), 10000 RPM, 6 mm cutter and 20 IPM. Finally we got our plates and the bearings fit just fine, we are very happy of that. We show you some picutres of our plates!!!! :):):)

tnarch Wed 16 February 2011 19:43

good work! thanks for sharing the specs as i will need them soon for my reduction assembly.

i notice in the pictures you are using a laptop. any issue with mach3? can you share your laptop specs? i'm temporarily running the machine with a laptop but i get buggy responses when using the arrow keys for jogging the axes.

rceja Wed 16 February 2011 20:01

Hi Tuan,we use the laptop just for designig with the CAM soft, we have a desktop running Ubuntu and EMC2 to control de MechMate, in fact our laptop does not have a paralell port!!!, i beleive that laptops are not recommended because of latency issues.
In a while i will upload a small video cutting our plates!!.
Thanks for your comments!!!! :)

rceja Wed 16 February 2011 20:46

And now,the video of the MM cutting our al reductor plates!!!.

smreish Wed 16 February 2011 20:52

So, how did you hold the part down? It sounds like (in the movie) when you translate to the x-cut you get extra bit chatter from the part moving.....or am I missing something?

rceja Wed 16 February 2011 20:59

We use double adhesive tape, several strips along the alu piece, that way you can get a strong holdig force. That's all we did. No chatter at all, in fact it was quite difficult to remove the tape once we finished cutting.

MetalHead Wed 16 February 2011 21:10

Cool - You have to love machines that help make themselves better :D

rceja Wed 16 February 2011 21:16

You are right Mike, we love so much our MM, and we are still begening to know it!!!!

GC3 Thu 17 February 2011 06:17

Nice work! Well done, thanks for posting. See you on skype...

albertoslayer Sat 19 February 2011 13:38

Felicidades y estoy a tus órdenes.

albertoslayer Mon 21 February 2011 11:31
