Collecting electrical parts

10 Attachment(s)
Managed to get some electrical parts for my MM after a 2 days trip to the capital city -Cairo.

I was lucky finding some good shielded cables for a fair price (left from an old project).

I also got the Z-slide plate after a long day of searching. The material is K353 I was afraid that its gonna be hard to machine and drill but after reading the specifications and testing the machine ability i was satisfy (http://www.bohler-edelstahl.com/files/K353DE.pdf ).

I've got the gas spring also. The rate for the gas spring is 260 N. So i need to add more weight to balance the lifting force of the spring.Instead of having a tube supporting the z-slid plate( 50X25X3) as this tube size is not available locally i'll add a block of steel 50X25 which have a weight of 7 kg. Of course drilling this thickness sounds scary but i have some good drilling bits :p

Some pictures as i know we all like pictures :)

zumergido Tue 17 May 2011 10:19

very nice work.. too much progress.
how its egypt now that mubarak its no longer ruling. i want to go back to urgada to do some skuba!!

myousry Tue 17 May 2011 12:48

awsome work ahmed . are CNC machines getting spread all over damietta ?

KenC Tue 17 May 2011 22:58

Very nicely done! Good job!
Now, Make some wood dust & get you number!
You can run the machine without the "resume" & pause".

234ahmed Thu 19 May 2011 12:30

Adel: Thanks and i wish you the best in your build

Fernando: thank you, Egypt is great after Mubarak we make mechmate now :). Hurgada is waiting for you. Good choice to spend your holidays.

Mohamed: thanks and the answer to your question is no. Some huge woodworking shops have large industrial CNC machines for their own work but most of the small shops in Damietta don't have access to these machine’s yet. ppl started to hear about it i wish i can have a good business in the near future.my intention is to experiment using my machine as a start and most probably i will start building a larger one soon.

Ken: I know i can run the machine without the resume & Pause but i already installed it :) even sough it's not responding as i thought it will be,
Any way logos and router mount are done soon I’ll be sending some pictures and a small video for the machine in action.

234ahmed Fri 20 May 2011 03:47

I've got the cable chain from HongKong along with my rack & pinion.

myousry Fri 20 May 2011 04:03

how did you get it from HongKong did u buy from online retailer

234ahmed Fri 20 May 2011 13:00

yes Mohamed.

Deitech has alot of parts that can be used in MM. their service is great, check their site at www.
driver-motor.com
or contact their sales directly as they have many items not listed on their site.

I hope that helps.

It was long time since i posted any progress. My MM was moved to a new home (small shop) and started to make some work. Some of the things I've done lately:
Mirror Frame
Attachment 12387
Attachment 12391
Another Mirror Frame
Attachment 12388
Some engraving work
Attachment 12389
3d Leaf (80 cm)
Attachment 12390
And of course the famous
Attachment 12392
Now I’m in need for a larger machine so i will enlarge my X dimension to 2440
Another thing is to add a spindle and a decent vacuum system. Photos will be submitted as the work go on.
Greetings
Ahmed

nice start ahmed keep on i still have some problems in making my machine because of my partner interest in the egyptian revolution but soon we will be back to our building process in the meantime i spend my time making reliefs so as to be ready for machining ,
good luck
i attach some photos my reliefs what's your opinion?

Alan_c Wed 14 September 2011 17:08

Nice Ahmed, I like the engraving work with the flowers.

Myousry - you will have to do us a tutorial on how to do such nice reliefs.

javeria Wed 14 September 2011 20:48

Yes tutorials by the time your partner returns - please

adel_sebaey1 Thu 15 September 2011 05:49

Good done Ahmed nice machine and i think u must make the big one from the first time so it takes the same time, electrics and work ; just the size of the gantry.
i hope u all success, i'm still working in the plasma.

234ahmed Thu 15 September 2011 06:22

Thanks guys,
Kobus: you inspired me to make that chair when i first saw it in your post, Thanks.
Amazing work Mohamed congratulations, as Irfan said we need some tutorials for these wonderful designs.
Adel: I built my machine on the roof of my house:) (4th floor), all the time i was thinking how i will get it down so i had to make it small and bolted now i have more space.

well guys i am still new to the field of making reliefs and i cannot make any tutorials. well ahmed what's your opinion with this leaf ? it's Still under completion. i hope my work satisfies everyone

Kobus_Joubert Thu 15 September 2011 13:06

The hard work of the chair was done by Alan. He deserves the credit.
Those reliefs are awsome...cannot wait to see how they will look on wood.

myousry Thu 15 September 2011 13:38

thanks a lot kobus but really it's a very exhaustive to make these reliefs my first try to make reliefs was these 2 panels. i was hesitant to show them as i made them from 2 photos in a website. it was a try to test my ability to imitate these models from just photos.also these 2 cornice and the one under completion are also from photos. a relief may take from me more than a month in order to finish it according to it details . anyway thanks again guys i hope you enjoy my work
Mohamed yousry

javeria Thu 15 September 2011 20:43

The leaf in post 69, just post a tutorial for that and then everything folks here will pickup - awsome!

KenC Thu 15 September 2011 23:34

Awesome!
You are being modest, you are actually a league ahead! Anything you say WILL BE a tutorial.

javeria Tue 27 September 2011 05:10

myousry

can you capture a few screen shots on how you have done that leaf in post 69 - would want to see your approach in how you do it.
