Thks for your kind words..... @_+

Robert M Thu 21 April 2016 13:58

FOR-GET...."considering a laser attachment" .....Done deal, I've place my order :p !

Since there kinda made to order, It should be shipped to me next week !!
Now...time to find out how to make it run with Mach3

Will keep you guys posted as I receive it and develop the attachment to fit my '' beast "!
Later.... ;)

pblackburn Thu 21 April 2016 14:18

My only suggest since I used to maintain laser cutters. Since you will mostly likely not have the plexiglass made for absorbing a laser shot, at least purchase the safety glasses made to protect your eyes from both scattered radiation and direct shot. Safety is always a good thing.

Robert M Thu 21 April 2016 14:25

Thks for this care & suggestion Pet....but not to worry, it come with a pair

Kornerking Thu 21 April 2016 14:57

What type laser are you getting?

Robert M Thu 21 April 2016 18:07

Pete,
it's a very conservative 3.5W version in order to get myself acquainted with this and all set up, software and on.....if by some odd reason I don't like my venture or it turn out to much trouble to set up on the beast as a dual / hybrid add on.....then, no regret, not a big expense....back to business

Robert M Thu 21 April 2016 19:49

Like my new heading......
but....beam me up....Scotty...

BEAN ME UP.....MEchMate :p

Kornerking Fri 22 April 2016 05:11

I purchased a 4w unit from Darkly Labs in Australia. 800 bucks but it works well. I do my logo on my drawers with it.

darren salyer Fri 22 April 2016 11:32

Cool stuff.

Now, for this, it go me working on a very, very old past due upgrade needed.....my dust shoe !
Finally got me motivated enough to take valued time making a new one.
Still not completed, but here’s a glance at what coming !

I’ll post more pics later as time permits to progress....
cheers guys !

PS...to MIKE...
Quite annoying trying to attached photos here.....it took me too much time resize & rework file size so they could be uploaded....got to be more....friendly user, it got me ...demotivated to do more :(

Robert M Tue 17 May 2016 08:36

her's pics of the upcoming laser !!

Sorry...can't freeken upload.....some exess of sort...
Next time:o.....

Fox Tue 17 May 2016 11:01

Nice. Use http://postimage.org/ for more easy pic upload.

MetalHead Tue 17 May 2016 22:46

Your fixed now. I upsized you :)

Robert M Wed 18 May 2016 02:55

Thks Mike....for this out of your way to solve this !!
but, how one ( I ) can either manage this or make some "file cleaning / removal" himself....so you do not have to do this ?!

Another Q" ?
Isn't there some "plugins" for this forum so, one would not need to "manage" his photo pixel size or this max file size !?
So to make it more...say friendly user...like many other social media !?.....so old smuck like me wouldn't need to hassle with this and simply download it from say, phone to his post/thread directly without dealing with this darn size thing?!....without the need to go through say a photo managing size thing or another photo managing site like pinterest and postimage of this world ?!....
Simply put....make this process darn fun....not a hassle ( nothing personal here Mike @_# ).

not big.....but a start !

Now, let's figure out how to make some kind of apparentis so it may be easily swap from router to laser back to router....without to much time management lost !!
Let's see what it can offer ??!
Cheers !

dbinokc Wed 18 May 2016 10:50

What is the power of the laser and where did you order it from?

normand blais Wed 18 May 2016 18:34

Beautifuf dustskirt Robert, it look like you have a deflector included . Do you use a router?
What it is made out of ?
want one

Robert M Fri 20 May 2016 16:08

Hey Norm....long time...
Ya, this is for the router :p
I made it out of Valcromat then sprayed it with a few layers of Hybrid poly !!
It's based by the same previous version I had form MDF that lasted me a few yrs....with the improvement of a magnet base and this time I've included laser guides ;)
Later bud....;)

Robert M Fri 20 May 2016 16:10

DB #118.....
Got to read my post 370.....it's there ...
"Have received my L-cheepo laser".....

Robert,

I would like to learn more about your shoe design and how it is working. I have not been happy with mine and I need a new idea.

Thanks

Robert M Sun 22 May 2016 08:59

Pleasure Nils.....just ask ?!...what would like to know
;)

sailfl Sun 22 May 2016 12:36

What size is the pipe you are using? The depth of the shoe looks small, what is it?

Thanks

Robert M Sun 22 May 2016 18:49

"What size is the pipe you are using? "
Pipe !?
If by pipe your refering to the rigid duck, it's a 5"
If your refering to the aluminium tubes, there ½ " x 6" !!

"The depth of the shoe looks small, what is it?"
By depth ? meaning Shoe length !? = +/- 15"
or
Shoe back-end height ??... = 1.¾"

BTW....width is +/- 8½" !

Hope this helps and is what you're asking?
Later ;)

sailfl Mon 23 May 2016 05:20

Thanks

Also, I finally got to integrate those Laser crosshair.....had those in stock & waiting for this over...say at least 6-7yrs :o

Next step....this new laser "cutter" attachement...still wondering how will I make this apparentis so I may swap easily between router & laser !?!

Later...;)

normand blais Tue 31 May 2016 15:55

Look like its for NASA . But how is it , the verdic .
Might need a hair cut to go with that cutter.

servant74 Tue 31 May 2016 18:25

I think the router mount is removable with one bolt. Just make an additional mount and put the laser head on it. It should be 'easy swappable' depending on power requirements. Otherwise just mount it as an 'auxiliary head' beside the router like some people mount a small 'drill' to do shelf pin mounting holes.

... I hope this helps.

Robert M Wed 01 June 2016 05:45

Thanks Jack !
Actually, I've been working (on drawing) for a mount that I can simply swap by quickly removing the router and insert this mount in the router round mounts....a quick, simple swap in, swap out...with a simple plugin power adapter plugged where the router is plugged :D

Norm !!
This dust shoe is nothing really new design aside the magnetic removable base/bristles and the new laser crosshair !!
But these two new factors....let tell ya.....it heven and bagning my head not doing it way before ....:o....
In short.....yes, it "suck" beautifully....and this new magnetic removable base, make it heavenly worth every bit redesigning ANY dust shoe !!!
later....;)

servant74 Wed 01 June 2016 08:55

If you do design a swappable laser shoe, how about posting the DXF of it so the rest of us could benefit too :D

Robert M Wed 01 June 2016 09:40

Jack...with all respect and no attack....follow my thread...
this is not about a "swappable laser shoe"....it's in part, me in the designing of a laser attachment to be swap time to time with my router

servant74 Wed 01 June 2016 09:48

Sorry, I didn't communicate clearly. .. Your intent is what I was 'assuming', but that isn't what I communicated ... my issue.

Keep going ... yep, I like following what you are doing. ... Take care

Robert M Wed 01 June 2016 09:51

No arms done....:D
Why communication....has a better taste than....assuming :p

racedirector Thu 02 June 2016 02:14

Jack, one of the guys on the JoesCNC forum made a laser shoe that seems to work quite well:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EMENb5xdRM

I might just build on one day.

Robert, Love the dust shoe, looks awesome! Good luck with the laser, watching intently for your progress.

pblackburn Sun 10 July 2016 16:31

Hello Robert. Any news?

Robert M Sun 10 July 2016 21:17

Strange coincidence you ask Pete !
As today was finally the day I made the laser olding rig in order to simply swap from router to laser ( the laser sit on top of a disc that is inserted in one of the router holder ) !

Attachment 15665

Made some 1st baby steps simply to see the operations of it.

Red arrows = Laser
Blue arrows = X-Acto knife cuts !
Attachment 15666

Now the...fun part !.....Learning curve
Will keep in touch as more photos will follow !
LAter ;)

jhiggins7 Tue 12 July 2016 06:26

Interesting.:) Thanks for sharing.

So, do you have a swappable holder for your X-Acto as well?

Robert M Fri 12 August 2016 12:07

No x-acto holder nor using it (x-acto) with the beast
These lins / marks come from my hand held tool. . 😛

Hey guys !!...
long overdue news
Still alive....@_# !!
This past W-E put on another new sacrifice bed, this time using Extira, less prone to swelling through humidity changes.

Attachment 15911

Obviously, if my 1st layer (stiffing one) would also be Extira, it be best....but, for know, this will do....better then reg MDF

Also.....another time where my reliable PC-7519 needed some new bearing.
Got to be a little more careful on the force (cutting load) I'm asking this work horse
Attachment 15909

The guys at the bearing specialty store I go suggested me to try these C3 class bearing,
Attachment 15910
allowing less friction under heat (load) since there less ....say tight in the bearing race way !
Will see ?!?

Later yall....

normand blais Tue 24 January 2017 00:56

Bonne année Bob!
How well is the lazer working .How many watt and what can you cut with it?
I just got a new router like yours now I know who to ask about the bearing when the time come .My last ones were an old rockwel and porter cable but the same model and it got realy hard to get collet for them . To bad I miss you last time at lac brome .Those customers turn weird on me so I decide to drop them. Your shop must look good now with all the hard work .Next time in the city drop by we are at the same place still.looooong story. Salut

Robert M Tue 24 January 2017 01:03

Hey Bud....Comment Y va l'père :p

Laser....well, gave it some trial, but, really...nothing exiting since then, to much to do else. But funny enough, this past few day I've been looking back in to it, then ( & still ) my real trouble was getting G-code for it. NOW, after some time on this ( as none or not much before) I've got a few good solutions.
So....more to come with this laser !

Shop wise, not much either on that part, not much expansion nor new renovations this past two yrs....lack $$ :o...
Should have PM you...but...o-well !!

Hey...take good care & speak to you soon....you silly baboon :p:D;)
midnight oil toié-too :p ....
