Gerald: Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. They are the nicest wedding photos I have ever seen (and I am not exaggerating!) Best of luck to the happy couple.

That is really sad for the swimmer. Swimming sure is hazardous in SA. Maybe that is why most people have pools.

Welcome back..
James, I had missed seeing this post at the time you made it, sorry. The beach sand was a coarse sand, but still a sand and not pebbles. Ave diameter under 0.1"

Shark attack report

Gerald D Tue 19 January 2010 05:35

An interesting picture of Cape Town's "city bowl" area:

Expand that pic to full screen, and then drag/zoom

jessyjames Tue 19 January 2010 07:32

Cape Town is amazing. I like how the mountains wrap the city and exit into the ocean. The process for the panaramic was intense and ingenious. Gave me a few ideas of future projects. Now the shark attacks, if we ever visit, have sealed the deal for us staying "Land Lovers" :) I need my 2 legs.

Thanks for that update Gerald.

BORRIES Tue 02 February 2010 09:41

Hoezit!!

Gerald D Wed 03 February 2010 01:51

At the time of the Great Trek, the trekkers found a signpost near today's Bloemfontein which said:

Na die Transvaal (with an arrow pointing straight ahead), and
To Natal (with an arrow pointing right)

Those who could read Afrikaans went straight ahead, those who understood English turned right. And those who couldn't read stayed there. ;)

Lex Wed 03 February 2010 03:33

Thats why my aunt married an Englishman. So that I could one day end up in Natal without being able to read any English sign boards. :)

A 74-year-old man was arrested for possession of dagga valued at R250,000 in the Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Ish 'n lekka plek, ne?

hennie Wed 03 February 2010 12:14

Wackey Wednesday!

Kobus_Joubert Wed 03 February 2010 12:23

Keep quite you G3 K3 or something similar.....All the okes unfit for army were left behind in the Cape. Only the STRONG ones made it up here.

hennie Wed 03 February 2010 12:50

En toe word hulle dors!

Lex Wed 03 February 2010 23:18

Watch out for the relocation of informal townships? :D

hennie Thu 04 February 2010 01:30

Need to replace some roofsheeting from the wind we get so it might come in handy.I just got into boatbuilding!

Gerald D Thu 04 February 2010 01:37

Hennie, how is the drought in your corner of the country?

hennie Thu 04 February 2010 02:15

It is BAD ,we get some drops of rain but just enough to dirty ones car.I am busy with plumbing work to use the bath and shower water for the garden. The worst thing of it all is that when they show its going to rain in our area one can actully see it raining over the ocean and not inland in the catchment area. The other thing is that when it eventually rains it floods everything like three years ago.The same heat that you had in December is what we have every day, about three weeks ago it got to a point that the workshop got so hot that I sent the workers home.

BORRIES Thu 04 February 2010 02:22
