Start planning for 2 MM
Hi!
I plan to built 2 MM one will be 4' by 8' and one 5' by 10' the 4 by 8 will be for different job and the 5 by 10 will be for cabinet job I start my BOM and one question first, I plan to use the motor PK296A2A-SG7.2 for both MM I read a lot on motor but I'm not confident it is the best motor for the job I want to make whit both MM. If I use this motor I will use power supply PMDX-135 whit a transformer AN-6438 its 38V 600VA What do you think about that. Wolfy Ghislain |

Great !
I appreciate you have your reasons to build 2 different size MM. Through, the difference of size may not induce a significant cost difference. With two 5'x10', you'll be able to make serial jobs with more efficiency, un/loading #1 when #2 is cutting, all done with a single hand. What you want to do on the 4'x8' will be done as fine on a 5'x10'. With same dimensions, you may build faster, and maybe get a better price for some parts. It's just an open question - as far as I'm concerned. Otherhand, you may not have enough room for two 5'x10'. Regards. |

Ghis,
One thing I would suggest would be assembling the Machine one at a time. As I only constructed on machine, a lot of lessons were learned along the way that could allow a much easier assembly of your 2nd machine. I do understand doing the fabrication “Cutting and welding the base table, gantry, y car etc.” work for both machines at the same time, but believe the assembly and electronics would go smoother one at a time. This is just what my experience has led me to believe. But no matter how you proceed I look forward to seeing you build and wish you good luck. |

thank for your comments
Why 2 Table I don't have enough place in my shop for a 5 by 10 the 5 by 10 will be in the cabinet maker shop whit my friend and the 4 by 8 will be in my shop at home and it will be for a lot of different job. for building process its a friend ho weld the base table. after that I will finish to built one table before to start the second one. I plan to built the electronic part on a kitchen table before mounting on machine. its not my first machine built i already built 2 Joe's cnc the last one is a cast cnc Rack & pinion I learn a lot during the building process and I still have a lot to learn. thank Ghislain |
