I now see HSS in red on top of the table....that is not a good idea, they get blunt quickly. (High Speed Steel). Better to get "carbide" cutters made from solid tungsten carbide. They look the same.

I was just going to ask what he wants to cut with it. I bought some and they went dull within 2 minutes.

Johan, you might consider getting it from Cape town from Power tool repairs (021-448-2620) ask them for a catalogue about R60 then you can see what you buy.It might be far from you but so far they are the best and just get postnet to pick it up for you takes 2 days at the most.

Thanks Hennie, I will check it out.
It will have to be from a supplier like that in the future or Somta as Jan suggested.

Johan, the guys with the widest range of stockists is Toolquip. Call their Durban number to see if they have a stockist near you.

Does someone has experience with insert tools like Her-Saf ? Would they be ok for particleboard and MDF cutting every day? Inserts seem to be relatively cheap but dont know how much they last.

also while searching the net I found these
http://www.bamcarbide.com/1x2o1cutdi1l.html
What is the experience inserts vs. bits like those?

Inserts can also be found to be of solide carbide tungsten, also what worries me is would the chinese 2.2kW spindle I bought be powerfull enough to plunge and work with 12mm insert cutter.

Thanks for help!

Just to show you guys what type of sales people I have to deal with in Zululand.
Collet1.jpg

The collet on the right is my existing imperial 1/4" to 1/2".
I ordered a metric one but received another imperial one.
I send it back and then this strange creature arrives. (on the left)
It looks like the imperial collet that they have heat up and pressed around a 6mm shank.
Well, what can I say, it still doesn't work because now the outside just falls out of the Makita chuck.
I can't wait until tommorow (Monday) morning. Man..oh..man!
