She makes dusty MOVES! - North Carolina, USA

I'm Jeff from Greensboro, NC. I guess my build begins today - I have had my laser cut parts now for a few weeks, and have been ordered a few parts and pieces here and there. Today I got down to business and countersunk my holes in the y car pieces and started welding - Got two welds done - looked down and discovered I was out of welding gas. At 5:30 on a Friday no less. Arranged for some more gas tommorow, so maybe I'll have some pictures then to show some progress.

Okay - so I have been a bit slack with updates - Control is finished and awaiting finishing of table - Just need to finish grinding my rails.

Have a question for the gurus out there - I have picked up some air feed drills locally ( they were a steal).
http://www.coopertools.com/catalog_p...-105_08-09.pdf

So will these work on the mechmate and how should I attach them to the z?
I have 2 of the 31LD-806C (only downside is they are 750rpm)

I promise to attach some pics of my progress soon.

I found the same models on a reconditioned site for about $800 - I found them on craigslist for almost nothing.

Here's some pictures as promised.

Control box has 15" touchscreen, Intel Atom PC running Mach on a CF as the hard drive.

Just a quick update - will attach pictures later - She MOVES! Got the racks and cable chains mounted - Attached the motors, changed my settings in MACH - and She MOVES!

Irfan - I actually have temperture sensors built into control box - I found a USB 3-port probe - I monitor the drives, ambient case temp, and the processor on the computer - So far we are within limits - 10 degrees or so above the ambient. (Processor runs a little hotter but I have the probe in the heatsink). My plan is too keep an eye on it and if I need to I will add a fan or a pelliter junction to cool the box.

Gerald - Everytime I get to a new step in the build process I'm amazed at the level of thought and accuracy you put into it! It is a really simple build once you get your head wrapped around it. This new toy is amazing!!!!!!

I'll be working on the last little bits this week - Then she comes apart for paint. I'll be cutting soon!
