quality of cut

Ok, I know this is nothing much but I have cut some cutouts for a counter with a under mount basin. The material is bamboo and I like this stuff. The point that I want to make is that the MM cut the corners without leaving any marks I didn`t even sand the insides I just sealed it and bobs your uncle.Cutting speed 20 mm /sec and a 2 mm deep cut pass.I used a spiral down cut bit.

How to move a MM to its new home

About 5 Months ago I asked my Landlord if he didn`t have a bigger workshop and as my luck had it one of his other workshops were available from the first of October. One morning he got there and the next thing a truck with a crane arrived at my old shop.Wow he even moved all my machines. Here are some pic`s of my new shop and a pic of my MM being moved. As it turned out he is a property developer and for the last two years I didn`t even know it.Must say there are still some good souls in this world.I now have an extra 80 sq meters at the same price then the old shop.Pitty I deleted the pic of the MM on the back of my bakkie it makes your bakkie going uphill if it sits on the back.

Hennie,
It depends on what you want to do with the product. I used a tungsten carbide up-down cutter (very sharp) to ensure that the paper does not rip.

I also used the cores to make my own sheets. I glued two 3mm sheets to the cores to make up a very light 16mm board. I then made cupboards for the caravans from that.

I thought that the product was very good although not durable for heavy use over a long period of time (not for my application at least).

One reason for me not using it in the end was the poor support from Xanita. I suggest that you google them to find a contact. They are in Capetown if I remember correctly.

I am still waiting for my samples from them 1 year later.I saw the stuff at mazeys plastics yesterday in George and saw a use for it.I am going to order some 16 mm sheets and foil them with some of my foil that I have left from previous jobs and use it in the showroom.I might use it for the schools food festival in march.

By the way I need some input and help from everybody.I need to come up with a sweet stall idea.I need to do some marketing for my MM and obvious have a nice design as a display so any input are welcome.I am not that creative at the moment so help a fellow Mech Mater.

After 2 years of cutting my gas shock is starting to show some signs of weakness. It was rated at 110 N.I went and bought a shock rated at 270 N that comes from a Golf Rear bootlid as I couldn`t find something else.I fitted it and the Motor jumps from the racks so it is to strong for the motor. Can I ask some of the oaks in the big city`s to give me a tel no of a company that I can contact and get it directly or what did the other SA Mech Maters use and what is the code on the shocks I bought Gabriel shocks maybe I can find a close match.
The other thing is do not put the fat side facing down

I bought mine from MIDAS. It is a Gabriel Gaslift and the only number I see on it is 4045-081107

Hennie,
4045 is the size of the shock. These kind of shocks must be mounted with the fat side upwards. If not, it will loose the gas as in your case. The reason for this is that there is some oil in the unit that is meant to keep the seal lubricated. If you mount it the wrong way round it will become dry and the gas will escape. You can get them from Bosch Diesel Electric as well.

yes, expensive R2100 ,00 for a 2400x600 sheet.Breaks a screw and you can`t use a nail gun it bends the nails like a fishing hook when you nail it and then shoots it back at you.I will send you the details but make sure if you want to order they know what you want as these oaks send the wrong stuff and they expects you to pay for the shipment back to them

Alan look at this it comes down to using a full sheet with all the other things also attached to it.I basically cut the bracket that forms the basis of the design.I will post a full sheet that have all the stuff on as per my design that I sent you.Ok, Kobus you will get a copy also.

this is something that I did for one of my clients,I got the job after some horse trading and no real profit but hey some things in life only some of us can do if you have the Balls as this was a first for me.I covered it with some Burgandy Mahogany foil after some 6 hours of cutting.
