PC 7518 controlled with SSR

Is anyone using a SSR to turn on/off a Porter Cable 7519? I am setup with a SSR controlled with the BOB (PMDX-125) and when I turn on the router via the SSR, it does not start running. With the SSR activated, if I turn the switch mounted on the router off then back on, the router starts to run. Shutting the router off works normally when using the SSR. I have replaced the SSR with a known good one and get the same symptoms. Not quite sure how to proceed...

Not sure of the details but somewhere on the forum is a discussion about using an SSR to switch loads like a router, and it does not seem to work, something about start loads etc, thats why it works if you phisically switch the router on with the SSR activated but the SSR is not able to start the machine on its own - better bet is to use a contactor which is activated by the BOB which in turn energises the Router.

Try adding a dummy load, like a low-wattage light bulb, in parallel with the router. You can make it into a "bit is turning" indicator.

Thanks for the help. I have ordered a "pilot" lamp to install on my controller. It will be the parallel load and a "Router On" indicator.
