Smile Introductions

Hello all. My Name is Chris Markham. I'm a sheetmetal guy out in Virginia. I've been looking at CNC for some time to supplement part of my business dealings. I get into UHMW slides and a lot of Lexan covers for customers that we regularly have to shop out. I've look at and even went so far as to bid on multiple pieces of equipment over the last 24-36 months. I've never quite satisfied and or concerned about what's out there. I'm a DIY kind of person and love building things. If you ever hear the story of my business partner and I you'll find it works like this. He sell it, I build it or he sells it and then says "hey I just sold a 1000 of theses at $x.xx each how do we get them done for that cost"

Anyway, today is DAY 1. Stopped looking, stopped reading about, stopped dreaming about and just DID. Plans are in hand and I'll start into materials early next week.

For those considering I find that choosing to do something is the hardest step for me. Once committed its about figuring out how to build something.

Look forward to reading more and hopefully getting down to build questions soon.

Welcome Aboard.

I dallied for a couple of years. Thought it was to hard to contemplate.
We started cutting steel Feb 10. On target to have it cutting Mid March.
Don't let it overwhelm you. Take it in small steps and it becomes understandable.
The information you need is here on the forum. The pioneers did an excellent job of blazing a trail.

Status Update

Steel is on the floor and several items like the gear rack have arrived. I'm one for having all the parts and pieces in front of me and available before I go building. Figure a week or two more and I'll be all set to dive in.
