Hi from France !

Hello everyone,
I am Guillaume from north of France. I have been an almost full nights lurker of this forum for about two months, it is now time to start the build.

I am trying to make my own business with my laser cutters but some of my customers are waiting for larger range of material (alucobond, PVC foam, thicker MDF...etc). That is why I need a Mechmate.

My Mechmate will be :
Working area : 2500mm long x 1500mm large.
Motor : MotionKing/Deitech 86HS9801 stepper motor with 3:1 belt reducer
Drivers : Leadshine DM856
Break-out Board : PMDX 126
Controller : Ethernet SmoothStepper
Software : Mach 3

Future planned upgrade : Lateral channel vacuum pump for vacuum table (wonder the power needed for my table ?)

I started the build today.
My "you got what you paid" chop saw died after only 6 cuts, so I have to finish the job with the handheld angle saw. I hope this will be the only collateral damage even if I know the Mechmate has been designed to kill grinders...

My aim is to complete the main frame before the end of the week. Laser cutted parts should be delivered on Thursday 13th.

Some parts are laying around my shop (v-groove wheels, pulleys, racks and pinions, gas spring... ie almost all mechanical parts). Next orders will be the electronic, stepper motors and drivers and some hardware (screws, nuts...etc).

Any comment will be highly appreciate.

Bye,

Guillaume

Hi.!!
Im following your thread construction.

For laser you no need torque and velocity, you can use small motors and power supply or controllers.

Hi Ros,
I am not building a Mechmate laser cutter, I already own a 2500mm x 1300mm one.
I just want to be able to cut material I am not currently able to cut with my laser cutters.

Only two small pictures during the assembly. I have lost a lot of pictures after a hard drive crash.
The machine doesn't exist anymore.

It was a 90cm x 60cm and RECI 80W CO2 laser cutter. I was using LightObject AWC608 controller. It worked very fine.

I received laser cut and bended parts on yesterday.

My fab schedule was very light at the moment I start the build. But I received huge urgent orders of laser cut acrylics parts in the last three days.

I tried to continue the drills during each job but working oily steel and highly polished PMMA at the same time is not the best I can do for my customers...

I hope the build will last forever, it will mean I have a lot of paid works for my laser cutters.
