From #60 to #61 great job Sergio - I think you need a new helper looks like you wore the one in the picture out! Maybe he can get a job in Hobbit land.

Thanks again all.

At this stage i'm experimenting with the bits.
Broke 2 ,burned MDF, and fired my helper

From the testing i concluded that the Onsrud 65-000 series is doing amazing and clean cuts on MDF.
I used the 65-013 bit with 18000 RPM and 1600mm FR and it was like cutting into butter.

The 53-040, 63-040, 46-008, and 38-50 all of them burned the MDF on 18000-15000 RPM 1600-1000 FR.
The 52-040 simply broke.

Operating a cnc machine is a whole diferent thing from making one,
but errors is a must for getting into experienced mode i think .

Do a google search for chip load calculators, there are many free ones. They will help with the burning of the wood or the tool. Most likely is that you are turning your tool too fast, and or feeding too slow. That was my problem, I had to speed up the feed to a dangerously fast feed rate, or at least I thought so when I first started cutting.

Thanks Dave

I allready used chipload calculator based on the
pdfs provided by Onsrud : http://www.onsrud.com/xdoc/FeedSpeeds

What i'm trying to figure out is why for example a certain bit is doing an
excellent cut on 25mm thick mdf but burning the 4mm one with the same speed and feedrate.

Sergio

I can't help you on that one, I cut 6 - 10 mm on a pass and the only time I burn a bit is when I have too small a chip load, never burned one with too big a chip.

Good luck'
