Dust Collector Waste Bag Ideal?

Hey Guys,

I have had this ideal kicking around in my head for a few months. I figured I would draw it up and see if my logic makes sense. I am hoping you guys will have a little more experience and can see if I have any flaws in theory.

I want to be able to put a waste bag inside my dust collector bin to make it easier for disposal. My last dust bin dump ended up mostly in my drive way.

My thought is to seal up both sides of the dust bag and apply a vacuum to the outside of the bag. In my mind it should suck it down to the outside of the bin or at least equalize the pressure so the bag doesn't get sucked up into the cyclone. In all reality I would only need this to work until there was a fair amount of dust on the bottom to keep the bag down. Then the weight of the dust would keep the bag into the bin.

Please bare with the pictures.

Hi Russel,

Your design is good.

I have one of the Oneida Dust Deputy and it works as you describe. The small diameter tube comes from the suction side of the hose and goes into the collection container, outside the plastic bag. This pulls the bag against the container. There is a small valve on the collection container to turn it off and on and on the inside of the collection container where the suction comes in, there is a piece of foam to stop the bag from sucking in and blocking the vacuum supply port. I have mine on a smaller vacuum with great suction. It works very well, separating the debris from the rest and keeps the filters much cleaner. Just grab the bag out and dispose. No pouring and making a mess. Been there. Your design would be great with a larger container. On the Oneida there is one dust seal on top of the bag, under the lid, similar to solid weather strip and two rubber elastics holding the top down.

Hey guys….

My 2cts advice…..with 8yrs expériance !!

I have a 7.5hp Oneida cyclone w a 45g drum bin !
I use contractor heavy duty grade garbage bags made for drums….attached a nice gauge string to an old 10lb weight lifting, cement filed plastic disc.
The string is long enough to be left out of the top circle lit with some extra, and when the bag is needed to be changed / full….simply hold the hanging string, open lid…..and gently pull up the weight….and VOILÀ….bag out to the curb….simple !!
This 10lb weight if heavy enough to keep the bag from getting “suck-up” buy the cyclone effect !!
Like I said, been doing this for over 8yrs….works like a charm !!

Amicalement, Robert...
