I've worked with machine which had one installed, using only keyboard is awkward and there are lot of shortcuts that you have to remember (https://masso.com.au/masso-documenta...-key-shortcuts) . No external buttons, homing on index etc. Pulled that out and installed Mesa 7i76e

Cant see any benefits of that or Acorn after using Linuxcnc and Mesa cards for last 4 years.

There is a spindle encoder input, 200 khz Step / Dir frequency.
24/24 input / output.
