Here is a source for spindle mounts. I have already purchased one for the chinese water cooled spindle.

Hi myousry,

I had the problem of the spindle mounts being too expensive. We made our own using the lathe and a 12mm plate of aluminium.

This is how we made it:

Brought a 12mm x 100mm x 300mm appox.

Out of the plate we divided it into 3 plates, one making the back plate keeping the two machined sides to keep it square.

The other two plates which are going to be your clamping plates. Created a centre line on each from one good machined edge. We then marked up for a hole on that line.
Radius of the spindle plus at least the thickness of the plate out.
Then drilled a 10mm hole in them both, mounted them on a 10mm threaded rod in the chuck. Using a boring bar, setting it up to 40mm giving us a 80mm dia hole bored through it until the bracket fell off. The important thing is to make sure that the hole dia is set up perfect because you don't get a second chance once its fell off. I then clamped the clamp plates at the correct height in the tool post and drilled the hole for tapping the clamp bolt. I used 6mm bolts.

The back plate was mounted it the tool post at the correct centre height and square to the chuck and drilled at the correct distance from the marked centre line on the plate. Then tapped M6.

Remember to trim the bracket clamp plates down to allow it to pass the Z Vee rollers etc..

I will upload some pictures tomorrow and maybe the drawing if i can find it.

Think the picture will make it clear. The main thing is to work from a machined edge.

I have successfully mounted many round body spindles with very simple U-bolt clamps.
Usually cost around 5-7 dollars each based on the 80mm (3.14") size you require. Something very similar to this - http://www.mcmaster.com/#u-bolts/=8x4lez

or more specifically, this one http://www.mcmaster.com/#u-bolts/=8x4moq

Good luck,

Sean

another solution needs reply

what about buying two of these
http://www.k2cnc.com/shop/proddetail...Hitachi&cat=31
and put one on top of the other as the spindle is taller than the hitachi router
they both have the same diameter 80mm
