Relay info
Hi to all
I have come across this relay and I would like to know if I can use it for powering or shutting down my router (15 amps, 120 VAC). My BOB is a PMDX-122 and the relay is identify like this: Type:30E0302DCSV ESI NO: 4052Y5B-32 COIL: 24 VDC UNISYS 4914999-06 VOLTS:240V :480V :600V FLA/POLE:30A :30A :30A RES/POLE: 40A :40A :40A LRA/POLE: 180A :120A :120A LRA 3PH 3 POLE:150A :120A FASCO IND INC ELDON MO. USA So far with the little electrical knowledge that I have, I have been lucky to not blow any smoke, so I rather ask before doing anything else. Thank you |

Mars, that looks like it is a "contactor" that needs a 24V DC control signal. Will you have a 24V DC control circuit?

So what will I need to be looking for to get my router turn off and on regarding a relay or contactor, without adding more control circuit.
Thank you for the reply |

If your router is 115VAC, use a contactor/relay with a 115VAC coil (Canada is 115V I think?)

Canada is 115V for routers. Looks like that contactor would work if you had the 24V drive.

Hi, thank you all for the help you are giving me, I found this SSR on Ebay and I would like to know if it would work with my BOB.
I have been trying to insert the link but I can't manage to do it, so here are the specs. Size 57.4mm X 44.8mm X 28mm Load Current 60A Load Voltage 480V AC Control Voltage 3-32V DC Control Current DC 3-25mA On Voltage ≤ 1.5V Off Leakage Current ≤ 2mA On-off time ≤ 10 mS Dielectric Strength 2500V AC Insulation resistance 1000MΩ/500V DC Ambient Temp -30~+75℃ Mounting methods Bolts Working indicators LED |

Mars, the control input side of that SSR seems compatible, and is what you should be looking for. However, the load size is way, way over what you need for a router - something more like Current 20A , and Voltage 120V AC would be more reasonable.
I suspect that that SSR would work, but it's overkill. You might try something like this: http://www.factorymation.com/s.nl/it.A/id.753/.f |

Also see Solid State Relay (SSR) for switching Router under control of Mach3 , particularly posts #29 and #30.
