Mike, do I get a number if I slap a logo on the bare metal ? Or does it need to be painted ?

Gerald and Mike,
I think if the build is out of stainless there should be an exception. That would be a nice looking machine. And expensive.

Titanium, ahhhh, too lightweight, machine would look like a washing machine out of balance scooting across the floor when rapids are made. Being serious, I always liked stainless brushed and it would be a shame to have to paint it for a serial number.

Still, think about all those pretty multicoloured welds in titanium, that will make it look fast ... we'll just fill it with concrete and be done with that nasty light weight characteristic

Talk is cheap. Built it. You sound like you have too much time on your hands already, you will enjoy brushing the frame so the grain will match

Concrete base ;-) , titanium is still to light for the Y/Z axis stuff. Some weight on the Y axis gantry and Z axis trolly is still needed to be stable under load.

I have one young one... And he's eating all my spare time, but without any regret. The best things in life are not things.
