That is right...same client.

Sad to say I have not finished the vac table. I think I am the slowest person when it comes to my projects. I am working on the spindle now but have had a set back with the spindle. The stator shorted out and is being replaced by the guy that I bought it from. I am also looking at another source in case it fails but to have a back up.

I have not posted any thing for some time. I recently added a spindle to my machine and changed out the spider and the Z plate that held my router. I used linear bearings and rails. The pictures are before installation. I will take a few pictures with things installed.

Some of the photos would not post with out me placing them sideways.

I have been fighting a noise problem but I think that I have it almost resolved. I hope that I will know in the next day or two.

The spindle is rated in the 5 KW though I bought a 3. I will take some pictures over the next week.

I am happy with the way my design is working.

My next project to adding belt drives. I am ready to buy the parts in the next week.

This week I cut 8 Sheets of 1/8" Acrylic for a total of 404 Space Shuttle parts for a company that makes Space Shuttle replicas to be displayed in museums. The pictures are some of the parts.

It has been slow in FL Mech Mate Land but today I was very busy.

I cut 3 different size of these that I have photos. I have one more large one to cut.

These MDF pieces will be used as molds. The pieces will be used for a Cell Tower at one of the theme parks.

Picture one is the rough cut, two finished cut and all the pieces together. I used 3 layers of 0.75 MDF.

Thanks. I wish I was making more things but my new client might make that happen. I will post some more pictures when they get the pieces made.

More 3D modeling. I cut 8 24" x 24" medallions out of 0.75" MDF. The medallions are for a upscale home in the Orlando area. I used a 0.25" Ball Nose bit and they took a little over an hour to cut. My client did not want a finished look and they will make them look even rougher.

I tired to post a end view of the file from Aspire but the image is too large to post. On the outer edge there is about an 1/8".

Nils,

You can use IrfanView ( a free photo editing program) to "resize" the image. IrfanView is the package that Gerald recommended several years ago.

The last two weeks has been good for my business. I will try to share some pictures soon.

Last week I cut 28 sheets of mostly 3/4" Plywood.

This week I will cut 91 sheets of mostly 3/4" Plywood.

I cut for a company that does conventions and they provide finished product for one of the places every one wants to visit when they come to Orlando.

My machine is cutting very well.

Thank you Gerald and all those that helped me to build my machine.

As many of you know I have cut lots Acrylic for a company that supplies displays to retail stores. I have lost that business to a company that supplies Acrylic to people like us. They are cutting the finished product for less than what I have to pay for a sheet of Acrylic. I can not compete with them.

I hope every one is having success with their MechMate.

Nils, Glad to hear business is good. I'm not sure of the date or dates but I will be coming down your way in early August with my family, was wondering if you would mind having a visitor stop in to check out your set up?

This week I discovered that I can cut 3/4" ply in one pass. I never could do that when I had the router and to be honest I never tired it with the spindle. But when I forgot to change the cut file to two passes and watched the machine easily cut 3/4" in one pass. I was very happy. I just cut my time in half. And I cut a lot of 3/4" plywood.

I am so pleased that I bought a spindle.

As long as the heat stays off the cutter and the motor can take the amperage, I would do it. That is the great thing about a constant torque drive and compatible motor, you can drive them hard. Great to hear it, hope you have more spare time now for more business.

Ref your 3/4" ply cutting in one pass.

I get the occasional surprise as well.

I was facing some hardwood, and I mean hard.
42mm dia, 3 tooth cutter, 3mm depth, Feed 2400mm/min

I was using jog, not a programm.
On one piece I forgot to override the rapid.
It machined in rapid. Didnt even blink. Wow!!!!!!!!!

I take it as a warning how powerful and unforgiving these machines are.

People sometimes ask me to compare my first machine to the one I have now.
I reply 'My old one could break a finger or perhaps an arm. This one will kill'
Be very careful out there.
