After having seen some videos of really high speeds that gantries are being made to fly at, it struck me that the end-stops were at risk, so I posted the following in another thread:

Okay, for you guys going at those crazy speeds, I need to know if the mechanical design can handle it! My biggest concern is the mechanical stops. Will they stop the gantry going at full speed? And the only way to be sure is to test it at least 10 times and then see if something is getting damaged.

Such a fast gantry, having a cutter spinning, comes running at you and then comes right off the rails into your lap! This is an easily predictable accident and therefore we must take real steps to prevent it. If we don't prevent a predictable accident then we are negligent
