shaft coupling or timing pulleys?

In this moment Im assembling my first CNC and I have some doubts about how to couple the motors to the axis, Im going to build a small machine 70x 40 x 20 and I have some 640 oz step motors and some screwballs to do it, however I wonder if it is OK to couple using shaft couplings or to use timing pulleys with some kind of relation, what is the best way to do it , thanks for your help.

Ball screws are best connected with a coupler that will relieve any misalignment. Unless your ball screw is very coarse, I would not reduce the coupling.
