Don't laugh, but after waiting many years for my wife's promise of doing me a custom scarf, I made one of these boards with my mini router and I'm doing the scarf Pablo Last edited by PEU; Wed 03 August 2011 at 21:21.. Reason: typo |

Truly beautiful work, and that kind of job can be done on a MM + Vcarve.

Thing that make you go…..MMMmmmm
This new way of communicating never seems to amazes me…. And surly others too…..
A guy from Abu Dhabi shows the world a video reporting an “American out-back” country craftsman doing some impressive hand work, the old school way......No tech !......which then is followed by a comment from a guy in Argentina…. Welcome to this new reality…..Globalization Amicalement.....From Canada, Robert |

We need this type of Globalization....with absolutely zero politics, zero wars....just figuring out ways to make things better with whatever we have, maybe just hands, or machines.

Christmas Tree
I liked the Christmas Tree so much, I created a version of it.
My supplier of Sintra gave me the 0.5" material, black was not my first choice but it was free. He is going to paint it green and display it. He gave me a sheet of 0.25" material and I will be cutting another one in white. I just need some presents to go under the tree. Last edited by sailfl; Wed 16 November 2011 at 15:59.. |

Miguel,
Thanks, I am pleased the way it turned out. I think the white will be great also. Yes, it is PVC. |

Nils....is that cut recently? After our little adjustments?
How do those curves look now? |

We have it here named FOREX and its great for making stuff, the model bridge in the showroom was made with it, but in a thickness of 13mm its really expensive to just make something , easy to paint and it accepts all kinds of colors
The white stuff I cut, will get the edges dirty if you touch it too much and manipulate it a lot around workshop. One side is printable in our European version, and as LASER guys just can't cut it (PVC stinks as hell and burns easy) its interesting to mention it that it can be printed and cut out the print if its irregular shape. If you get a fuzzy edge just rub it along with another piece of same material. |

Yes, I cut the tree on Tuesday. The curves look good Sean and thanks for stopping by and your suggestions.
There are some minor problems but I cut the 0.5" material with an 0.125" Diameter bit x 0.5" cutting length at 100 IPM so there are some places where it is not as smooth as I would like. Plus as you know Sintra is tough stuff. Over the last two days, I have cut 13 sheets of 0.75" cheap China Birch Ply with my compression bit in two passes and the curves look good and no chatter or very minor. There is some fuzzes but I have used the same bit to cut about 50 sheets of this same ply and some MDF. Some of the sheets have had lots of parts cut out. I am very pleased with the change and I very pleased with the bit. Danilo, with the bits I use, I do not get any fuss on the edges. The material cuts very smooth. |
