My only suggest since I used to maintain laser cutters. Since you will mostly likely not have the plexiglass made for absorbing a laser shot, at least purchase the safety glasses made to protect your eyes from both scattered radiation and direct shot. Safety is always a good thing.

Pete,
it's a very conservative 3.5W version in order to get myself acquainted with this and all set up, software and on.....if by some odd reason I don't like my venture or it turn out to much trouble to set up on the beast as a dual / hybrid add on.....then, no regret, not a big expense....back to business

I purchased a 4w unit from Darkly Labs in Australia. 800 bucks but it works well. I do my logo on my drawers with it.

Thks Mike....for this out of your way to solve this !!
but, how one ( I ) can either manage this or make some "file cleaning / removal" himself....so you do not have to do this ?!

Another Q" ?
Isn't there some "plugins" for this forum so, one would not need to "manage" his photo pixel size or this max file size !?
So to make it more...say friendly user...like many other social media !?.....so old smuck like me wouldn't need to hassle with this and simply download it from say, phone to his post/thread directly without dealing with this darn size thing?!....without the need to go through say a photo managing size thing or another photo managing site like pinterest and postimage of this world ?!....
Simply put....make this process darn fun....not a hassle ( nothing personal here Mike @_# ).

Let's see what it can offer ??!
Cheers !

Hey Norm....long time...
Ya, this is for the router
I made it out of Valcromat then sprayed it with a few layers of Hybrid poly !!
It's based by the same previous version I had form MDF that lasted me a few yrs....with the improvement of a magnet base and this time I've included laser guides
Later bud....

What size is the pipe you are using? The depth of the shoe looks small, what is it?

Thanks

"What size is the pipe you are using? "
Pipe !?
If by pipe your refering to the rigid duck, it's a 5"
If your refering to the aluminium tubes, there ½ " x 6" !!

"The depth of the shoe looks small, what is it?"
By depth ? meaning Shoe length !? = +/- 15"
or
Shoe back-end height ??... = 1.¾"

BTW....width is +/- 8½" !

Hope this helps and is what you're asking?

Also, I finally got to integrate those Laser crosshair.....had those in stock & waiting for this over...say at least 6-7yrs

Next step....this new laser "cutter" attachement...still wondering how will I make this apparentis so I may swap easily between router & laser !?!

I think the router mount is removable with one bolt. Just make an additional mount and put the laser head on it. It should be 'easy swappable' depending on power requirements. Otherwise just mount it as an 'auxiliary head' beside the router like some people mount a small 'drill' to do shelf pin mounting holes.

... I hope this helps.

Thanks Jack !
Actually, I've been working (on drawing) for a mount that I can simply swap by quickly removing the router and insert this mount in the router round mounts....a quick, simple swap in, swap out...with a simple plugin power adapter plugged where the router is plugged

Norm !!
This dust shoe is nothing really new design aside the magnetic removable base/bristles and the new laser crosshair !!
But these two new factors....let tell ya.....it heven and bagning my head not doing it way before ........
In short.....yes, it "suck" beautifully....and this new magnetic removable base, make it heavenly worth every bit redesigning ANY dust shoe !!!
later....

If you do design a swappable laser shoe, how about posting the DXF of it so the rest of us could benefit too

Jack...with all respect and no attack....follow my thread...
this is not about a "swappable laser shoe"....it's in part, me in the designing of a laser attachment to be swap time to time with my router
