Thanks for the info everyone. With all the funds I have saved doing this project myself vs buying one I have a good amount of funds and wanted a spindle that wouldnt be the weak link in the machine....

Looks like the difference between a 24t x 72t(100 teeth and 4.962",3:1) and a 18t x 72t(98 teeth 5.0019",4:1) is 2 teeth and .038 of a inch, to be 5 inches part.

Lathe it, 4 jaw, carbide boring bar, dial indicator, calipers...it would take maybe 15 minutes. Take the 3 jaw chuck and make a paper weight out of it.

Thats what I did.

Ok thanks.....I sure am amazing how easy the gantry rolls on the X rails..a single finger and very little effort will roll it from one end to the other.

I have the gantry on the rails and seeing if its square. All 4 wheels make contact but in one small area 1 of the four wheels starts to ride up the rail outward..?.
