My post had nothing to do with faith in the accepted method for grinding the rails, or the desire to find a better way. It's just simple curiosity - hand held joiners are basically angle grinders...

Discs do come in bore and diameter sizes that will fit joiners. That and the built-in fence made we wonder why it had not been tried, or at least not documented in some way.
