I would not want to harden them, it will wear out your rack sooner. I have gone through 1 set in 10 years rack still looks good.

If you have any type of Probe software remove it ,along with the wire to your board. I have it it cause a similar problem on my machine.

It is the same in solid works also it will not extrude if it is open, you can create relations to all of the slots , where if you change one it will change the rest of them to the same measurement.
