L2 or L3 on these boxes just sets the motor turn...
L2 or L3 on these boxes just sets the motor turn direction. ie - if when you hook it up the motor is not turning the correct direction switch L2/L3.

Box mounting is OK as long as the VFD can breath....
Box mounting is OK as long as the VFD can breath. We would need to know where the incoming wires come from and the outgoing wires are going to.
I agree on the colored wire for input side....
