As requested. This is 3/4" mdf cut with a 1/4" carbide bit at around 60 ipm in a single pass. The other side didn't have a pattern but there was a small amount of chatter. I used chalk to help...

Oh yeah. You can check the backlash in your gear box with a dial test indicator. Google it and I'll bet you find pictures of the set up. Harbor Freight has cheap dial indicators.
