Chuck, if you are tempted to go back to your original question, and use the MM as a scanner, I think you need to appreciate that you will have the same problem of finding the center of the blackness...

Even if they give you a .tif, .jpg, .pdf, etc, there are dozens of programs that will vectorize (trace) them.
