Laser cut parts shipped out from Sweet Home Alabama
I have found a place that will cut, engrave part number, and bend 25 parts for $375.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting the first lot (The Mamba with geared motors) cut and bent to see if there any glitches. The rail skate is included in this as well!! I have not gotten a prices for the Classic version. So let me know if you would want me to check into that. I would like to give thanks to Gerald D. and Evey one else who has helped in making this possible, Without Yall....we would just be living dull lives. joe |
Joe,
Please let us know ASAP about the quality. This is quite interesting. I will be anxiously awaiting the answer. |
Joe,
Inquire if they will pack them for shipping and how much. This is a very good price. Thanks |
I tried not to do a back flip in there office when he quoted me the price. The shipping will have to be on my shoulders though. They were extremely fast getting me a quote. We will see how long it takes to cut and bend.
I think its my time to help out because I'll be asking lots of question later:o:) What types of motors is everyone leaning toward (Geared or Direct)? |
Joe,
Geared motors are what Gerald is currently recommending. |
...and the Universal motor template works well with the OM 7.2 series motors I just mounted a few weeks ago.
Sean |
Joe, that sounds great. Let us know if you can help with shipping.
MIKE |
I forgot to mention that I added an extra Motor Plate M510314 for those who might add an extra motor on Y car.
I don't think they work on the weekends, but let me know who is going order one and zip codes so I can figure exact shipping + insurance to You. joe |

44122 is mine.

I'm lost - what are those 4**** numbers?
|
US postal codes to calculate shipping
|
Everybody with a 4 in front? that looks like a waste of a digit :)
|
Gerald,
Not so! For example one location in Washington DC has 20012. My zip is 32789 for the 5 digit code. People are suppose to use the full nine digits which for me is 32789 3333. The first 5 digits give you the post office. The additional 4 locate the street. |
So there is a big coincidence of "4" MM'ers. Cold winter dreams!

Midwest winter projects.:)

Another midwest, but with a 6. 67205

Put me in for a set... 85087

Counting me, that’s 9.
Someone send Gerald D. some Tylenol. He will have a large headache with all these builds. |
Count me in 60502
|
I would like to join in also if it is not too late.
Zip code is 88310 I have a UPS account so I could call for a pickup and would only need my parts boxed up for shipping. |
I am new to the project and have been working on a small scale CNC which is nearing completion. I am interested in the laser cut parts for a larger scale project however I am still looking over the plans and reading posts in the forums.
Is this quote for all the parts for the MechMate or is this for some of the more complex pieces. Birmingham is just 3 hours away so I would be able to pick up allot easier than shipping. Just wanted to make sure what was included. Doug |
Doug,
Those are the more complex parts that have to be cut and bent. You still need to supply the tubes for the gantry and all of the steel in the table assembly. Doug |
OK,
Well I got my hands on the Options Excel file.. Thanks Joe for the PM So to get an idea on how much I will spend on just the metal to build the Mamba's super structure not including all the electronics and other expensive tid bits what an I looking at. $375.00 Laser cut and bends for the more detailed pieces $???.?? For the rest of the gantry and table assembly Thanks, Doug aka The other Doug |

I came up with aprox. $425.00 using 7" channel for the main runners. It would be probably $25 more or less using 6" or 8" channel, but that should be a ballpark estimate, if you purchase from a steel distributer rather than a welding shop. You can't get 2 pcs. 131.9in. out of one 20ft pc. even if the channel runs a couple of inches long(usually do) and you are carefull with the angle cutt, at best you will only be able to get 2-126in. pcs. the plan shows 131.9in. if you don't want the rail overhanging. If I am reading that correct |
Ed, are you not looking at the 9 foot table that I built here in SA? Most guys are building 8 ft tables and therefore they manage with one length.

oops. Yes I was looking at the upper drawing, showing 131.9in., rather than the blue drawing just below showing the two pcs. layout on a 20ft bar. |
