Hi,
I am watching excellent work done with Mechmate on Aluminum and Wood/MDF.. Has anybody tried carving marble?

I recently did carving marble on MDF CNC machine and i think this surely can be done with Mechmate.

Marble is relatively soft material, so it is possible.
One machine in the Caribbean islands uses a standard A/C motor as the spindle for specifically this use. I have not seen any photo's of results - but know that a duty purpose machine has been built to date.

Its about the spindle design, particularly the bearings.

@KenC:
I am using ordinary wood router for carving the Marble.

@Smreish:
Yes i think Marble is much softer..however Granite is really difficult to carve atleast i think not possible with my machine. It will be pleasure for me to see some marble carving here at this forum..

How about carving Ceaser Stone?

KenC Sat 28 April 2012 22:33

I would be interested to know what is the long term effect of your router. specifically will marble carving shorten your router bearing life.

@Guillermo:
These are some excellent and low cost tools.. I wish i could purchase have those:(
@hennie:
What is Ceaser Stone?
@KenC:
My router has two bearings both can be easily replace with a cost of 1.5 US dollars..
So far yesterday i did run run the router for 8 hrs straight and no sign of abnormal sound, vibrations etc.

Khalid it is a engineered stone made from quartz

Gerald D Sun 29 April 2012 10:38

Khalid, it is produced in Caesarea, Israel. I suspect that Pakistan is not a big customer.

Khalid Sun 29 April 2012 22:09

@Hennie
Thanks for information :)..I will search on the internet..
@Gerald:
We have large reserves of different types of marbles and granite in Pakistan. You are right we do not import marble from outside.
