Google Earth

I was bored one day and decided to make a .kmz file for Google Earth with placemarkers for the folks building MechMates.

The pins are color coded for the different building stages they are at.

Red - Introducing themselves
Green - Building but not completed.
Blue - Completed MechMates

Just thought it would be interesting to see at a glance where roughly everyone is.:)

Well, John. I'm speechless! Your Google Earth map of the Worldwide MechMate deployment is fantastic. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for creating this and sharing it.:)

swatkins Mon 08 February 2010 20:59

Outstanding! :)

If its not to much trouble and you want to be really accurate you can move me to my correct position at 30 19' 43.50 N 95 58' 00.20 W

I just use Houston because more people know where it is :)

Great work on the map :)

Gerald is only a stone throw away from a beautiful beach! How nice!

Gerald D Mon 08 February 2010 22:51

Actually I live half way between 2 beautiful beaches - I am 3.3km more to the left :)

KenC Tue 09 February 2010 00:09

I'm about 5km from Straight of Malacca, but nobody would want to swim there... No sharks though... just muddy & silty coast...

Claudiu Tue 09 February 2010 00:53

Hi Dave, and anyone interested in putting their placemark in the map.

This is a direct quote from the Google Earth help file as to how to add your placemark.

Quote:
Position the 3D viewer to contain the spot you want to placemark. Consider zooming into the best viewing level for the desired location. Choose any one of the following methods:
Select Placemark from the 'Add' Menu.
Click the Placemark icon on the toolbar menu at the the top of the screen

The 'New Placemark' dialog box appears and a 'New Placemark' icon is centered in the viewer inside a flashing yellow square. Position the placemark. To do this, position the cursor on the placemark until the cursor changes to a pointing finger and drag it to the desired location. The cursor changes to a finger pointing icon to indicate that you can move the placemark.
Hope this helps.
