We're here and keeping an eye on your progress. Most of us tend not to post unless we have something to add. I'm anxious to see your completed machine, with logos, (you already have paint) and cutting! Sounds like you're close.:)

pblackburn Mon 26 February 2018 05:01

Sorry I was late getting to it but shoulda like you sorted it out already.

IamDave Mon 26 February 2018 05:46

It was a little frustrating. I tried posting a video. Wires hanging everywhere.
I need to get the box mounted and the cable drag chain on, as well as all the E-stops.
Slow but steady getting there.

YANLM Mon 26 February 2018 09:01

hello Davey
i follow you. it seems we are at the same level
good luck for the rest.
Yannick

IamDave Mon 26 February 2018 19:21

Yannick. Thank you, I have been watching yours as well. Nice.

I have been out for a few days, but here are a few threads worth reading.

I caught in the thread above that the Gecko's on that 134 board are not hooked up correctly.

IamDave Wed 28 February 2018 05:56

That is a good catch. I was just using that as an example. (Did not think of ref. credit).
I joined the "CNC Zone" board a while back. Thank you. Now if it will quit raining, I can make enough money to finish this thing.

IamDave Tue 06 March 2018 14:54

Going to take a break now. New Buckingham spurs, belt and ropes for the year. See you in the canopies.

I will pm you

Does anyone place double sided tape, behind the rack on the z-axis? Or is it metal to metal? Got the holes tapped in the rack finally.

IamDave Wed 21 March 2018 05:47

I know 10-40-014 does not show it. I was just wondering. I read some posts earlier in the forum where some used tape there.

IamDave Wed 21 March 2018 17:03

It's all okay, I am developing patience, waiting on parts. Starting to snow, cold 31 degrees, hail, rain, sunshine, wind. To much to climb in trees, to broke not to.

IamDave Sun 25 March 2018 18:41

Do we just purchase another set of plans, if we want to build another one? Or rather for each machine build, we purchase a set of plans for the right to build one.

pblackburn Sun 25 March 2018 18:53

PM Mike and ask him, I was here before the plans were a monetary value. I do not believe that you have to but I do not know for sure. However keeping this forum up and running does take time and investment so a donation may be all he requires or he may ask for the plans to be purchased again. The proper thing would to PM Mike for a response.

IamDave Sun 25 March 2018 21:59

Thank you. I will do that.

A Little Closer

2 Attachment(s)
Stupid Cold and Rain. Stuck Inside. Got a little closer today. Waiting on Mike to let me know how to buy the Universal Motor Mounts for the Z motor.

MetalHead Tue 27 March 2018 05:17

I do not ask for the plans to be purchased again. You are restricted to building a machine for yourself. I will allow more than one.

And what Pete said is true, cost a bit to keep the forum going, so donations are always nice.

PM me your address and I will send you the Universal Z mount. Did your kit not have one?

IamDave Tue 27 March 2018 07:07

No sir, I just did not understand the difference when I ordered. Now I do. :o

IamDave Sat 07 April 2018 11:26

Mike. Thank you for the new Z-mount. Much appreciated.

IamDave Mon 09 April 2018 13:10

Little closer again 2 Steps Back 1 Step Forward

Okay was able to acquire some 3" Channel and 1.5" Tubing.
So I reworked the top as shown on the plans, Bolted the spoil board down securely and filled the holes. Added cross bracing for added stability.
Table is unshakeable now. Plus I will be able to unbolt and remove it through the 36" wide door when time comes. My 10 Year old 535 router, is getting worried. *(Looks like we are in for a long winter.)

IamDave Thu 19 April 2018 17:57

Bouncing around on the table now.

2 Attachment(s)
Going back to zero always. Hope to get to run a file tomorrow.
Just some fine tuning to do now. I used a porter cable on it for now. I am going to change it to a spindle later on. :):):)

IamDave Sun 22 April 2018 17:12

SO I was jogging around on the table. Changing setting accel and vel and such.
Everything seemed to be working okay. Saved exited out Friday and was gone all day Saturday. When I started it back up. Now my Z axis goes down in both buttons + or -?
It works fine on the other router profile. So it has to be something I changed. (I think).
I did a search on the forum.

Maybe an after-thought, after I asked the question. Possibly I corrupted the XML File by doing all the changes and playing around. I will delete that profile and start again fresh.

IamDave Mon 23 April 2018 13:26

Yep, that is what it was. Deleted the profile, and started over from scratch.
Back on track. now to calibrate the motors to move the proper time/distance calculations.
This is actually sinking in a little. Today is the 123rd day of January 2018, and it is still raining, windy, and cold.

IamDave Mon 23 April 2018 18:27

Took 4 times to calibrate all 3 axis. Moves exactly an inch when asked to move an inch.
You don't have to worry about the A axis----Is that right?

IamDave Wed 25 April 2018 10:34

Routed the very first piece this morning. Seemed to be okay.
Got to get used to this table, re-oriented where X&Y are different.

It is more precise when you are calculating step per inch. Or measuring movement over table. One inch can trick you.
