Can Mechmate be a plasma or gas cutting machine?
 

I want to build a plasma or gas cutting machine using mechmate project.
Everybody tell me to use servo motors. Can I use stepper motors instead of servo without facing problems?

you can use stepper motor without problems, ask those whom ask you to use servo motor to pay the price difference :).
