Gas Spring for 350mm

Gentlemen,
I'm having a doubt 10 40 014:

The course should be:
Open 490mm or more
Closed 300mm?

That drawing says: Gas Spring, approx 350 [14"] stroke

"Stroke" is the total movement distance that the spring allows. Equals open length minus closed length.

Depending on the spring that you can find, you select a position for 1040372B. On the right side of drawing 1040364DB there is a note:

2 Tapped holes for spring
bracket in back of tube
Location determined acc. to spring

3 Attachment(s)
Ops :o OK

So this OK:
A - 764mm
Curso (Stroke) - 350mm

Picture 2 and 3 are the ends.

I thought of using automotive spring but did not find this measure. :(

That should be okay. Also look at the note in the center of drawing 1040364SB:

Approx 665 [26.2"] final length
Depends on brand of gas spring
Suggest cutting 50mm [2"] longer and
trimming back after spring fitted.

The 22mm diameter of the body is at the max limit of the space inside the z-slide. 22mm [7/8"] will work, 25mm [1"] will not work.

Gas shock specs

An update on this thread:
I was at the gas shock shop today trying to buy a spring. I forgot what the spring does, so got confused about how the pushing action worked. All better now - it's for holding the Z-plate and attached bits when the motor is off, so an extending spring is right.

Anyway the point is that the shop asked for 2 specs: extended length and force in Nm and stated that these are "standard" ways of ordering the shocks.

The stroke distance and diameter are specs that we MM's need, but don't feature much in their thinking.
