Where are the DXF files ?

Hi Folks
Where do I find the DXF Files for cutting the parts for the MechMate?
We are starting the new project here in São Paulo Brasil

MetalHead Mon 19 July 2010 09:43

I sent you a PM

newage Thu 16 September 2010 08:31

Hello everybody!
I'm also a newbie here. I have studied this forum for a while, and compared this router to commercial ( mostly Oriental) solutions. And what have I noticed ? -What's more I think about it, the more I become convinced that MechMate is the choice. That's because this would be a hobby to me, and if it develops as business I don't mind at all :)
But at start I need a little bit help: Mike, could you please send me the DXF Files for laser cutting the parts? I would be very grateful!
Greetings from Finlan to everybody! -J-

'This forum ... and the knowledge built up here was the product of individual dedication of the initiator and through serious collaboration, sharing personal knowledge and experiments, expert opinion and time and resource allocation of the members.

We encourage you to take some time and browse the forum to get yourself aquainted with the MechMate concept. There has been enough information covering various aspects, compiled here in the last few years and it is very likely that you find the answer to your question.

In order to get an answer, you need to take part in this forum; to take part in the forum means you should update yourself with the latest knowledge that all have contributed. and through collaboration we have made our way. This is how we managed our problems and this is the only way we can address your problem.

May we also suggest that you get your very basic knowledge from other sources like Yahoo Groups and CNCZone. '

The DXF files are not posted for download actually. I control the distribution of those files and depending on where you are I will work to make the parts sets or the dxf files available to you.

mkuivamaki Mon 13 December 2010 06:36

MetalHead, I sent you just PM.

isladelobos Mon 13 December 2010 06:37

Hey Mike.

We can download updates from the plans? wen this are modifieds?

MetalHead Mon 13 December 2010 06:43

Well I have not gotten into all of that yet, but the plans are very stable at the moment and have not been updated. So I would not worry about any changes to the basic files at the moment.

mkuivamaki Wed 15 December 2010 03:04

Hi. Can you sent those dxf's what I've asked? I sent you my email by PM.
Thanks!

DXF Files

Are these files still available? If so can some one please send me them.
Thanks in advance,
Chad

MetalHead Wed 25 May 2011 13:45

Chad - I sell the Laser Cut and Bent parts and have them ready to ship today.

I was interested in using a CNC mill to mill the profiles but the geometry is undefined on the b/p and calls for the DXF files.

The mill time is free for me as is the extra material.
(I will be using a buddies shop after hours)

It is a nice option for people that don't have a mill/laser/water jet machine
but for me it would be a waste of $500

MetalHead Wed 25 May 2011 14:55

So is your thinking to mill all the parts out then bend them?

Chadonka Thu 26 May 2011 07:30

My plan was to use "scraps" or leftover material to mill out the profile.
sure this will take me much longer but I am in no rush. my goal is to start building around Winter time.

I can understand you not wanting to give out the DXF files, but then what is the point of selling the prints without the parts.
If the plans are every thing to build a Mechmate then sure sell them on there own like it is. but if you MUST buy the laser cut parts don't give the option to buy the plans only, sell them as a bundle.

the fact is I like the MechMate design but the cost is on the higher side compared to other DIY CNC's (for a good reason, you get what you pay for) if I am able to shave a few bucks off by using the resources available to me then it helps justify this decision.

If the planes are going to remain incomplete then I believe I will be considering a DIY based off the ideas of JOES Hybrid with the CastCNC.

look at the CastCNC package. if you want the cast and machined parts for around the same price as the laser cut parts it includes Joes plans. otherwise Joes plans included EVERYTHING needed to build a working machine.

KenC Thu 26 May 2011 08:04

I bet a grinder with a stack of cutting disk will do more fun. Watching the milling machine cutting 3mm MS plate can be tiring...
Welcome to the insane world of MM building :)

Gerald D Thu 26 May 2011 09:58

If a claim is made that you are being sold "a set of drawings", then that set should either:
a). include the dxf's of the un-dimensioned drawings (those with suffix P), or
b) be upgraded with dimensions added to drawings where they are missing.

But, if it is clear that a mix of parts and drawings are being sold, then there is no obligation for drawings of the parts being supplied.

cabinetmaker Sat 28 May 2011 08:51

Was I wrong to assume

I've been reading and re-reading Gerald's last reply to this thread, I was dissapointed when the dxf files for laser cut parts were not included when I purchased the plans. Was I wrong to assume they would be?

My business is still reeling from the effects of the 2009 economic downturn, and right now, just don't have 500 bucks to spare. A neighbor and close friend has a laser and will cut the parts for the cost of materials. With that savings, I could get started on a machine sooner.

I enjoy reading this forum would like to thank everybody that takes the time to contribute , it's much appreciated by a novice like me.

Hey Mike

I Checked out your web site http://www.cvsupply.com/servlet/the-MechMate/Categories.

Quick question, whats the difference between the 2 different leveling feet other than $11.60 in price? They look identical but the ones on the mechmate page are more expensive.

Also what would be the postage cost of the motor drive belt plates to Australia?

Thanks, Mick

MetalHead Sat 28 May 2011 19:08

Can you point me to two different items? I only see the one. I will check the shipping to AU for the motor plates. PM me your post address.

aussie_mick Sat 28 May 2011 20:49

Mike

here are the limks to the leveling feet on your site.

MetalHead Sun 29 May 2011 05:12

Thaks for pointing that out to me. I guess they upgraded the store. All of those items in "other" were not supposed to be visible. Feet price is $44.60 and the store has been corrected. Thanks !!
