You knew someone would ask......

Building a bigger/better one?

Surfcnc Mon 04 March 2013 13:26

Hi Darren and Others

Maybe "different" is a better explanation but I have no concrete alternative at present.
It is simply a case of freeing up some room for my next project.
I have loved every minute of my CNC experience with the Mechmate.
Design, capacity and value wise it would be a challenge beating the MM.

I have been assisting two different people get surfboard shaping machines running, one locally and one in Canada.
I am attracted to the idea of these machines but they have significant compromises inherent in most designs.

Nothing will happen until I make some work space and do considerably more planning :)

I forgot to mention that I also have

. 17 inch touch screen monitor
. droplet lubrication and air delivery system

Will post a few pics up in the next day or so.

Regards
Ross

It's a pity Queensland is so far away from Tasmania ;)

Hi Ross,

I am shocked !! letting it go so soon. However reading between the lines I am getting a vibe you have something else in the pipeline that is going to be something special. Good luck with it whatever it is. You ever need any bits and pieces cut for the new build :p you know where I am ;)

Cheers
Tony.

Hi Tony

Thanks for the offer, you know how much I covert your wonderfully accurate coldsaw and despise my friction cutoff butchers tool :D

I have been a bit slow with the photos as a bit of a cleanup around the machine was needed. The machine itself is always clean !!
