Dust Collection Pipes

Gerald,

On your original build you show the MM with your dust collection pipe, could you please take a couple pictures from the other side which would show details of how the pipe is connected. Please post.

Thanks

Nils, I seldom see those machines (hence another reason for building #3), but I'll look for some photos. Wouldn't say that our dust-hose is right and only way to do it - this subject is a huge minefield by itself.

Here are some things on dust collection from the old Forum:

Gerald,

Thanks for the link. Yours might not be the best but it is working and you have to start some place. Also it might generate some input and pics from others.

Thanks

For some reason Bill Pentz's website is giving me all sort of problems, and more over the excel (cyclone calculator) on the site doesn't seem to exist anymore.

If anyone has a copy of the Excel file for calculating the dimensions of the cyclone kindly mail it to me irfanullaATgmaildotcom.

Irfan,

Not exactly sure what pages you’re aiming/hoping to get at Bill’s web site, but bear in mind it’s under some « renovation ». If you go to this : http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/index.cfm You’ll notice it says “ under construction ” !!
Maybe that explains why you’re having so cal problem. The page your referring to is mayby, maybe temporary out for some update/changes.

Amicalement, Robert.

Irfan,

Why don't you send an email to Bill and ask him for the calculator. He might respond. There is another company that is building his system.

Robert and Nils,

Actually I had invited the local metal shop guy to my house to take a look at what I wanted to build. And since my hard drive crashed i lost the excel file which included the calculations, i had thought that I could download it any day since i am on broadband.

And then as I don't have the file I had to show him some pictures from the clearvue website and send him back.

I did think of sending bill a mail, but decided not to do so as he might be very busy and decided to ask here first, thats all. :)

If anyone of you has it mail it to me, or its OK I will put my cyclone build on the back burner.

Thanks for the help

Is this the one your looking for?

Irfan,

I sent an email to Bill Pentz and asked him to send you a copy of his Excel Calculator. He sent me a message saying he sent it to you. Did you get it?

Bill mentioned to me that he is working on a new version. I suspect that he will send me a copy and I will be happy to share it with everyone.

Nils I got one from Bill yesterday, I was busy at work, (14hrs in office) so could not reply.

I wanted to post it here but bcos its already available on his web site thought it would not be a nice idea. after all his website earns for him by the traffic it gets.

Thanks Nils for emailing Bill on my behalf. I really appreciate that!

Gary, thanks for the file too, even this is of a lot of help.

Hi Gerald,

Are there any good flexible pipe suppliers in South Africa.

regards

Biggles

Gerald D Sat 20 February 2010 20:30

Our pipe came from http://www.huester.co.za/, but I hesitate to call them a good supplier for flexible pipes.

Jan de Ruyter Sat 20 February 2010 23:09

Try Petzetakis, they have branches all over SA for all sorts of applications.
DPI, Astore and ILT also sell pipes and fittings.

GW Industries and Hose Centre can help you with shorter lengths.

Thanks

Thanks guys,

:)

I appreciate the help. I'd like to have a dust collector running as soon as possible and build a decent air cleaner too.

Austro in JHB does one of the best quality flexible pipes ex Switzerland - but expensive of course (very good abrasion resistance)
