New build in Norwich UK.

Hi All

Located near Norwich in the UK.
Just ordered steel for frame work. Will be ordering the kit from M-Machine in the next few days. Plan on using Motionking steppers and drives. No gearboxes at this point.

I have a large catamaran project ongoing and can see the opportunities for bulkhead cutting and scarf prep. I will consider future kit cutting for yachts etc.

Best Regards

Kev

The record set so far by 2 members is right at 2 weeks +/- a few days.
Good luck!

Three weeks toil, another MM is born.

Hi Chaps,

I returned to the UK from work to a workshop full of various components. Three weeks later I have this

http://www.bream.cc/mm.jpg

I am now waiting for the motors and drivers to be delivered.

Planned config will be

Oriental PK296AE SG7.2 motors
Leadshine AM882M drivers
USBCNC CPU 5A4E controller

68 volt 500W PSU with motors wired Bipolar Parallel.

I have a build blog associated with my boat build site with more MM build photos here http://dix470.blogspot.com/ when time permits I will add the build photos to the MM site.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kevin,
Nice work acomplished in fiew weeks !
What about parts :
- 10 10 304
- 10 10 314
- 10 10 316
Are you sure your table will be stiff enought ?

kevinbream Mon 30 April 2012 04:28

Thanks Axel,

10 10 304 are fitted but not obvious on the photo. The cross bracing is 50X50 angle and the 304s are set at a greater angle from vertical than shown on the drawings, and they are not parallel as the drawing, it really is rock solid. We will see but not a big issue to add more braces later. The table working area is 2440 X 1220 so smaller than the basic design.

Nice, I wish you a nice ship build, I'll follow your blog. ;)
